You just asked that question! Those women that you refer to are few and far between. There are far more women in our society who are supporting and raising children with NO help from the male who fathered them! Your etiquette book is pretty old. It's been many decades that I and most of the people I know (of any gender), will hold a door for the person behind them, regardless of gender. Get yourself a new "book".

Army VeteranAnd people wonder why degradation is taking hold of society. I went to a restaurant a few years ago and as I was about to enter, a family of 4 or 5 was leaving. I did the courteous thing and held the door for them. Of all the members of the family, only the youngest - who couldn't have been older than 5 years old, looked at me and said "thank you". Everyone else in the group was too focused on their own problems. I will always remember that experience - it gave me reassurance that through the young and innocent children, there is still hope in this world.

They must be traditional or spoiled. Men opening the doors for women goes back to the Victorian era when women wore dresses so large at the bottom, making it difficult to reach the door knob. 🤭
