Pascal's Wager is in and of itself a sort of argument. Given its origins and content, almost certainly the purpose of the "Wager" was to persuade French Christians to live a more Christian lifestyle. I.e. to persuade them to stop living what would be a typically sinful lifestyle ("typical" in that day and age, from the perspective of Christian teachings).
