What do you mean by 'silver lubricants'? Do you mean graphite? To be safe, I bought a can of garage door lubricant from a local home supply store. One can should last for years.

I suggest a lubricant specifically made for garage door openers. As I recall some are a silver color but, clearly, reading the label is better than choosing a lube based on the color.

If the silver lubricant was made specifically for your issue I’d use it. Otherwise why risk it being unsafe?
