She deserved it. And even her coach said he was coaching. People just think they can do whatever they want without consequences. And now she's bitching saying it was only because she's a woman. That's refreshing. I'm surprised that she didn't claim it was because she was black.

Linda JoyLOL yes, a refreshing break from the race card! And yes, her coach admitted it! And if she'd just kept her mouth shut none of that would have happened. She knew Ramos was a stickler for rules. Her own sister was warned about the same thing by the same ref. And he wasn't just gunning for a female. I looked at that, too he's been tough on the guys as well, though I haven't found an incident where he took a point yet, I got distracted.

Archie BunkerSome people just think they're special and the rules don't apply to them. I don't care how many tennis trophies she has, rules are the rules. If she doesn't like the rules, she can quit. F*ck her. She's another crybaby athlete who thinks they're above everyone else.

Linda JoyI actually thought quite highly of her before this. Both of them. But then I haven't watched tv in a while and only look up stories that interest me, so I miss a lot. That said, anyone can have a bad day and she's not used to losing so this was a good lesson for her, too. I know I don't always act like I should and say stuff I shouldn't. No one is perfect. And she's much more perfect than I am in many ways so I have no room to talk. I'm just glad my fits aren't circulated on the internet!

Archie BunkerI see that yesterday, Martina Navratilova wrote a piece about it. She said the same thing. Serena deserved what she got. There is no excuse for her behavior. And I'm glad to see that the WTA is backing up the umpire.

Linda JoyI'm glad you're back. I missed you.

Archie BunkerJust to add, Linda... I watched the trophy presentation the other day and I can say that Serena acted with grace and dignity. Even when the WTA CEO tried to make the ceremony about her, Serena told the crowd to quit boo-ing and steered the questions about her to her competitor. She was a class-act at the ceremony.

I didn't either till I googled it. I heard about it on the radio.

Carlos Ramos is an idiot conservative and Serena overreacted under pressure- both were in the wrong. But Carlos IS sexist and HAS got history in how he applies his rules when it comes to the woman’s game. Thus, Serena is right about him and people siding wholly with Carlos are simply dimwits trying to justify their disrespect of Serena. Let’s make it clear that neither of those three penalties applied by Carlos were necessary considering the stature of the match. Had Carlos done his job respectfully and talked to Serena properly when the first violation occurred the rest of the game would probably have been smoother. I would check who Carlos had his money on, to win the match….

You just want to argue. If Serena hadn't made a violation she wouldn't have needed talking to! Was Serena being coached during the game? YES! Serena was wrong! Did she break her racquet? YES! Serena was wrong! Did she argue with the ref? YES! Serena was wrong! And Carlos reprimanded several males as well. I'm not going to research their names and incidents just to prove you're wrong when we both know you are. But he is conservative and a stickler for the rules. And I'll concede you have a point with that last remark! lol -
Archie Bunker
Yep. Blame it on the official, instead of the person who did the deed. Serena knows the rules, she just chose to ignore them because she thinks she should be treated differently. And WTF does him being a conservative have to do with anything, if he even is? -
Linda Joy
I didn't mean politically. I was talking about his calls being conservative. I don't even know the guy. I just googled her complaint to evaluate the validity of it, but I'm not seeing any proof of any such thing.
