Have you applied for disability and food stamps? Don't wait! I made that mistake! If your sight improves and you can go back to work that's great, but the sooner you apply the better. Also ask them what services you qualify for. You may be able to get other types of assistance. Don't let pride get in the way. You may be able to help others with the information you learn. The VA hospital has a blind rehabilitation program, too! They teach them how to cook and stuff

I am too old to apply for disability, I have checked with S.S. already. Because I have worked hard and saved my money I have too much in savings to qualify for food stamps and Medicaid. Another case of the stinking government not wanting the poor to get up and out of their poverty.

I've been there, too when I was working two jobs at a time! And made too much to qualify for legal aid when I really needed it! At least you own your own home and don't have to pay rent. I had one paid for and lost it. But have faith when God closes one door he opens another. Have you been to the blind rehab at the VA? Did I tell you about the time a blind person lead me and another guy out of the VA because we got turned around following someone to the classroom that was in the blind rehab wing? Ironic, huh? I can't imagine how you manage. What would you think about getting a dog? I think if I went blind I'd want one. And I'd definitely go to the blind rehab program at the VA.
