How to show a reoccurring decimal as a fraction.
I did a maths test, a question came up. It asked me to express a decimal as a fraction. I just want to know what this is called and how to work it out if anyone knows.

Let x equal the repeating decimal you are trying to convert to a fraction. Examine the repeating decimal to find the repeating digit(s) Place the repeating digit(s) to the left of the decimal point.

4-30-2017 Let's examine 0.111... to see how it works. This repeats 1 digit, so multiply it by 10 and write 1.111 - 0.111 = 1. That means 10x - x = 1 which is 9x = 1 so x = 1/9. Now let's look at 0.0101.... This repeats two digits so you do the same thing but now it is 100x - x = 1 or 99x = 1. Three digits would be a thousand and so on.
