  • I will give you two personal experiences from my family. My toddler daughter had been trained to urinate on the pot, but would not defecate on the pot. My wife claimed that it “hurt her too much” and she held it as long as she could. By chance, when my wife was at the Chiropractor, she mentioned our daughter’s problem to her. He then adjusted my daughter. Within a week, my daughter was fully toilet trained. My own experience, with my current chiropractor, whom I will visit tomorrow. I was complaining of pain in both of my wrists after a job position change had me doing much more typing than what I had been doing. I was now sitting at a new desk too and my position of how I sat changed. I was diagnosed by my general practice family doctor as having “Carpal Tunnel Syndrome”. He gave me to splints to wear and mentioned surgery in the future. I went to my chiropractor’s appointment, and again, by chance, mentioned this other problem to me. He said, “let me take a look at you”. He examined me and adjusted my neck. He told me that in 15 years of practice, he has found only 3 people out of about 40 who were diagnosed as having “Carpal Tunnel Syndrome” who actually had it and could not be helped by him. I was fine after that. No splints to wear, no surgery. It makes you think.
  • Yes, actually a number of times and not just with my back, but with other health issues.
  • I've been to a chiropractor, but he didn't help my problem. I went to a massage therapist and got more than the results I wanted. Maybe I went to the wrong chiro... but I didn't benefit from going
  • I've been to a few, and the current one I go to is the one that has done the most good. The spine is the main path of nerves to the brain, where the nerves enter the spine, if these get pinched due to not being properly aligned, it can send mixed signals to the brain and back to that particular area making it not function as well. Many people feel sore afterwards but that's due to the muscles being used to holding the spine in a wrong position (usually due to an accident of sorts). I was sore after my first few visits because I was tilting my hips to compensate for a curve that was developing and after they adjusted me, my one leg was back to sharing the load evenly and was sore after playing basketball again. After finding a good chiropractor that actually checks you thoroughly rather than a 'routine' adjustment and your body becomes accustomed to functioning properly again, you'll notice when your alignment is off. I now go 1 time a month and can tell by the time its my visit that something is off and usually know where. I tell the chiro what's been going on during the time apart so that they can use that information to check particular spots that may have been put out by activity such as roofing (two roofs in two weekends, I was out of whack!). My wife went after giving birth to my youngest and she hadn't began her period yet again and it had been about 6 months already since delivery... after going to the chiro and getting adjusted, her cycle started that night. It's definitely beneficial, but with all things, requires balance. It is not a cure all and I don't believe it to be a complete replacement for medicine. I think that it is definitely a great preventative measure that will increase your health and prevent many common problems.
  • I have been greatly helped by chiropractors, especially one that is a bit unorthodox compared to most chiros. I have had multiple problems with my back since as a child when I was kicked square in the back by a horse. It broke many of my short false ribs and so I don't have the muscle support that people usually have in my lower back. Anyway, I would get help when I needed it through the years. Doctors never helped much, they always wasnted to do surgery and nope, I've known too many folkd that went that route and were worse after. Then I had a super serious injury to my back and I got no relief. The chiro would keep me sort of going with 2 appointments a week. I did this for 5 years, still with so much pain and not doing much with my life. I couldn't ride, couldn't walk very far. Tens didn't work. Massage made my pain and movement better. Then friend told me about this chiropractor in Sacramento, CA, a weird chiro. I went, barely able to stand the drive up there. His specialty is adjusting only one thing, your atlas, the very top vertebrae, and nothing else. He measures the height of your hips, does some detoxing, but the main thing he does is make you lie down and palces his hands lightly on you and with energy moves your atlas. He asked me to stand and it was like a miracle. I could sit straight and walk straight. I wasn't in pain. I hadn't felt anything of the adjustment, We remeasured my hips and they were completly straight. His idea is that if you make the top vertebrae straight, all eles will fall in line and straighten out perfectly. It works! I am still amazed. I can walk and I have a life back. I can go for walks, I can ride horses and motorbikes again. I can do housework! I am building a house with my husband!!! THis docotr has helped others I know, to. He helped a friend who had Parkinson's real bad. He hadn't been able to talk or stand much. BUt after seeing this chiro, he was able to speak to his wife for the first time in over a year. He could stand and go places with assitance. This doctor helped my mom so she didn't need a hip replacement surgery as soon as she wold have. She went 4 more years till it was needed. He has helped so many people. Even my back home chiro was amazed and so thankful he didn't need to see me anymore. He had felt so bad that he couldn't help me more. I will be forver grateful to Dr. Lubecki for giving me my life back when no one else could. • Yes, it runs in my family. The latest , after my father, grandfather (and on and on it goes) are my sisters. One is a massage therapist and the other is (japanese term) a Myomassologist. It is in our blood...we all seem to have the 'touch'.
  • Yes. Herniated discs in my lower back that according to MDs should have been operated on a long time ago. A good chiropractor has been my blessing. The problem is that the bad ones can screw you up and rip you off.
  • I strongly suggest "BOWEN THERAPY" I have never gotten anything better! as of yet!
  • Let's just say, if you like to participate in sports and other physical activities, go to the chiropractor to rejuvenate your body from being out of place.
  • Yes very much.
  • yes, for 7 years. i am 70% better now than 7 years ago, but there are finance changes which has tighten my purse strings, and i haven't seen my chiropractor in 3 months, boy.., i can feel my neck is out of alignment majorly.
  • I have been to one and he was amazing!! First of all he would xray you to figure out the problem ( I had my spine misaligned) then hewould softly crack your back, i mean i thought it would hurt but i felt no pain, then you would go to therapy which was little eltric pads that massaged the area, and it was all for the low low price of $0 he did not charge students or seniors, and he also told me when i no longer needed to see him, unfortenatly i fell down the stairs recently and re injured the area, and i moved to a new city, so i need to find myself a good one like i had
  • Many MD Doctors use chiropractic methods to determine physical problems. But chiropractors are like many doctors. They specialize and just miss the obvious. I had head pain, dermal the chiropractor said. Meaning, untreatable. I wasnt satisfied with that. I found an physical therapist who said it was pain from a whip lash. And with his therapy, the pain has gone away.
  • Yep. Many times.
  • Yes.... my back is a total mess. I put all my stress into it. I really need to go back, as my neck has been very sore lately.
  • yes but it was a long time ago. I have been to more that didn't help. Good ones are hard for me to find.
  • I believe Chiropractic care is one of those things you do for your body, like you would do for your car, every 3,000 miles you get the oil changed - it may not be making any noises, but it is proactive, or preventative. Chiropractic is like that. Your body is a finely tuned piece of work, all the nerves run carefully along and through your spinal disks, up and down your legs and arms, up your neck, etc. When the bumps and crashes of life happen, even if there is no pain, those small spaces can become cramped, restricting nerves, bloodflow, etc. With decreased blood flow and nerve flow, you get less functionality in the rest of your body, like for example, pinching a nerve in your spine, can decrease strength or functionality in your hand, wrist, leg, neck, etc. If you keep it tuned up, like your car, it will give you less problems than if you let it go. If you let something go too long, just like your car, it may become irrepairable, and you will find that you just have to live with something that could have been fixed in the first place. I speak from years of experience, and you find a good chiropractor by asking someone you trust, or asking them for references. Good ones will be happy to give them to you, sketchy ones will not.
  • I go to the chiro regularly to get adjustments and acupuncture.. I have some nerve problems like sciatica and random sharp pains in my chest and lower back which are caused by pinched nerves
  • I haven't been to one, but I really want to try it out. I have weak bones, and I can pop pretty much every single one of them.
  • YES! I love my chiro, after the car accident I was in I was taking muscle relaxants and pain killers and nothing helped. One month after the accident I went to the chiro and it was the best choice I ever made. I strongly recomend seeing one, they can help with back & neck pain and even jaw pain.
  • Yes, had piched nerve, It hurt sooo bad and went and had the electic stimulation on back. Better in 1 week.
  • Yes and he has helped me so much.
  • Twice.
  • I was visiting chiropractors for 6 years. If I am honest they (Orthopaedists) did help me but only on the bellow side of my spine. They didn't help me for my neck vertebras (or discs). We have here Orthopaedist and Neurologists chiropractors from abroad and for me is much better Neurologist because I have swollen neck muscle and pinched neck nerve and for that are better Neurologists. One of them did help me, 1998 and 1999 each time for 6 months. He left then to his country. Bobbie
  • Yes, all through my life. My dad trained as a chiropractor, and I spent several years as his 'training dummy'. lol. But I've never had any real problems, even after auto accidents, because I take care of them while they're still small.
  • I have been seeing a chiropractor for the past 8 years and my life is much better (at least partly) because of it. What a lot of people don't know about chiropractors is that they are not just good for your back but for your health overall. I have less colds and other illnesses (like the flu in the winter time). They keep your spine healthy and your spine controls your whole body. It's just a good thing overall.
  • Helped by one, hurt irreparably by another.
  • Yes. Chiropractors can help with skeletal problems like scoliosis. they can help to relieve nerve pain originating from the spine. Also can help with acute pain like migraines. Osteopaths also are useful for treating pain- they work more on the soft tissues, like muscles.
  • Yes. Chiropractic help isn't the answer to everything, but for many things - especially back pain, pinched nerves, etc., they can work wonders.
  • For short term and masking the pain it works but for long term and more permanent results inversion therapy will work better for spinal alignment. Inversion therapy uses the effects of gravity to weight down your spine and stretch it out. As this happens your spine is allowed to decompress and as that happens it relieves the pinched nerves in your spine. Inversion therapy causes your muscles of your core (the hips, thighs, buttocks, back muscles and most importantly the stomach muscles) to stretch out. As they stretch the knots and spasms leave and when these muscles are all relaxed they loosen their grip on your lower back muscles, your spine and most importantly your pelvis, allowing them to go back into natural alignment. As they align this will cause your sciatica to vanish. It's like if your car is out of alignment it pulls to one side and screws up the tires, it's the same with your back. Inversion therapy will help align your spine much quicker than some pillow while you're laying on your back. Hope this helps. • I am having ongoing chiropractic treatment. It is a type called Gonstead Chiropractic. It is amazingly helpful. I have a lot of "irreversible" damage, however, I feel improvement. http://www.gonstead.com/
  • yes many times
  • VERY helpful.
  • There are the kind that are helpful, like mine, who have helped straighten my back and relieve nerve pain; and then there are the whack jobs that are a danger to themselves and others.
  • For me it is harmful. +5
  • Helpful if you choose to change the way you are living and start to exercise as much as you are allowed to. Harmful if you live your life like a plant, and visit chiropractors every 1,2,3... months when you have problems. If you don't exercise, your muscles are weak and they can't hold your body properly. Friction comes with every treatment, so it is not recommended to make treatments often. Also make sure that your chiropractor is has appropriate license.
  • Some of them are just in it for the money, so they make you keep coming back to them. I was very lucky to find an HONEST one! It took me a couple of years to find him!
  • Never, I probably should though. Every time I move, it sounds like castanets made of metal.
  • Very much so. An excellent man I have been going to for many years. I have chronic neck and lower back pain from sitting typing for many years. When my neck or back goes out, he corrects it immediately. But, I must say that since I bought and have been sleeping on an egg-box foam rubber mattress (on top of my mattress), I have not needed to go to him.
  • No, I haven't. My family doctor takes care of my back problems.
  • My experience is there are good chiropractors and bad, just like good and bad doctors of any kind. Chiropractors in general are very well educated about the body, but they are bone people, not so much soft tissue. I've got a great one now and she refers me to a rolfer to help with some of the work on soft tissue. With a rolfer and chiropractor and a simple yoga practice I try to do every day for about 15 minutes, I'm now better than I've been in forty years. I have seen the chiropractor about three times in all of 2009 and haven't seen the rolfer at all this year. I'm 54 years old and work physically every day as a farmer, growing and sellling vegetables. That is tough physical work. I've been doing it five years and I'm better now than I've been in my entire life and the work is hard, hard. Lifting, bending, raking, shoveling, etc. etc.
  • Yes, many times. I needed surgery on my lower back after a really bad 4-wheeler accident but the chiropractor had me fixed up within 2 months.
  • Yes! I love my chiropractor. She's the sh^~!
