  • No. It's a matter of faith. In other words, don't use your brain dealing with something like that, just believe or not...and don't say a word if you don't believe because other's may get offended.
  • The Bible is my source of evidence of the account of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • You could check the writings of the 1st Century Historian Josephus. He mentions Jesus as a historical figure but I'm not sure about the ressurection.
  • "Most Christians accept the New Testament story as an historical account of some kind of resurrection, which is central to their faith." "Almost all non-Christians do not accept the bodily resurrection of Jesus. They therefore deny the resurrection, considering it a form of myth." There is until now no archeological evidence that Jesus even existed. And there is also no archeological evidence for the following hypotheses: "The Jewish perspective is that the body of Jesus was removed in the same night, see also Stolen body hypothesis." "The Islamic perspective is that Jesus was not crucified, but someone who looked like Jesus died in his place." "Documents found by Russian historian Nicolai Notovitch claim that Jesus was resuscitated and lived the remainder of his life in Kashmir, where there exists a possible tomb for Jesus, under the name Yuz Asaf." • Yes... You can check out info online about the various persons in the Roman or Jewish Government that killed Jesus... or check out: drive thru history with Dave Stotts from Focus on the family...
  • There is none whatever. Josephus mentions no resurrection, and Jesus Christ himself is barely mentioned. This proves nothing either way. The absence of evidence does not prove a negative or a positive.
  • Read "Evidence the Demands a Verdict" by Josh McDowell.
  • Nope. There is no evidence such a person even existed at all.
  • None. There are no contemporaneous accounts or archaeological evidence. Well... James Cameron might disagree...
  • Without getting into a long discussion. Lookup the names: Osiris/Horus, Mithra, Krishna, Dionysus, among others. Mark is considered the oldest of the synoptic gospels. The earliest manuscripts of this book do not contain the actual resurection. It ends with Mark 16:8. Know thyself.
  • Non that I am aware of, but quite frankly that doesn't surprise me. Evidence is highly subjective when you are talking about an event that supposedly happened 2000 years ago. In short: If there was evidence, lets say eye witness accounts, such as described in the bible they would be discredited by several people on this board under the grounds that since the witnesses are in the bible they can not be trusted to be true. (How one jumps to this conclusion never stops to amaze me). If an outside reference such as a roman historian wrote about it his writings again it would be discredited and labeled a forgery and/or written after the fact, etc. (Maybe. maybe not, but where is the proof?) References are cited and then discredited and around and around we go. Where does that leave us? Interestingly it leads us back to faith. Something that can not be proved or disproved.
  • The bible is as good an historical book as any!
  • "Blessed are those who have seen and believed, yet more blessed are those who have not seen yet still believe." It comes down to faith I think :o)
  • The historical evidence is there, in the form of FOUR contemporary eye witness accounts. These are more historically attested than any other work from the ancient world. The other evidence is the historically rapid spread of Christianity. By the 80s, it had spread as far as Rome, taken by eyewitnesses to the events whose word was believed by thousands. These eyewitnesses and their followers were prepared to die for the belief in the resurrection. No other religion in this world has ever spread to far so quickly simply by word of mouth. And been defended to the death by people who would not offer any resistance, but raised their eyes to the sky as they died and prayed to the resurrected Jesus to take them to His side.
  • Looking at history or archaeology for an alternative view to the main one believed in by Christians can, quite understandably, be objected to by Christians. However, if one looked at the Bible itself to see if there are any alternative views then this should be acceptable to Christians. Let’s start with Matthew 12:39 in which Jesus says that the only miracle he will offer is “the sign of the prophet Jonas”. He expands on this by saying in the next verse “For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” To find out how Jonas was in the whale’s belly we have to read the Book of Jonah. It is a small book only four chapters long. It is the eighth book from the end of the OT. “So they (the mariners) took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea” (1:15) “Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights” (final verse of chapter 1) “Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s belly” (first verse of chapter 2) “And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.” (2:10) We can see what the miracle is, that he was alive in the belly of the whale when by all accounts he should have been dead. So Jesus is saying that he too will be alive in the tomb (the heart of the earth) when by all accounts he should have been dead. So the evidence from the Bible itself is that there was no resurrection. Resurrection requires a death beforehand but there was no death. Jesus himself tells us that he did not die, by a miracle, the miracle of Jonah.
  • Someone sent me this movie awhile back that I think explains all of this. I personally love the movie because people are always badgering me, and It is easier for them to watch it, then for me to try and explain my beliefs. That way, it isn't personal and they can watch it or not. www.zeitgeistmovie.com
  • Horus(Egyptian),Attis(Roman),Krishna(Indian) Dionysus(Greek)Mithra(Persian)all were apparently born December 25th,by a virgin mother. Each was sold by someone close to them and was crucified. Each one arose after 3 days and was resurrected. Each one started their ministries at the age of 30 and performed miracles. Each had 12 followers. They were all baptized and had visitors that followed the star to locate them. Each one of these myths are taken from ancient astrology and each one was born in a different sign of the Zodiac, that separates the ages by thousands of years. The twelve months align with the 12 followers. For each ,the 3 days in the tomb happened when the sun was at it's most southern point, where it remains still for 3 days before it heads north. Then the sun ,or sun god, rises or resurrected ,and the sun heads north to longer days. The massive flood happened centuries before the account in the bible by another great man,and a boat was built to carry all the animals of the world and a dove was released. Each new belief borrowed stories from the previous and built on them,in a way plagerizing All religions are myths,or true.
  • Along with what has already been said, one thing to consider is that during the time Jesus was said to be raised, His tomb was empty. The debate then was not whether His tomb was empty, but why it was empty. His followers say it was because He was raised, while His opponents said it was because His followers stole the body to make it look like He was raised from the dead. The other thing to consider is that His followers were willing to die for Jesus. If Jesus was not raised from the dead and thus a fraud, and His followers just made it look like He was raised, then it seems unlikely to me that they would have been willing to die for a fraud or their lie. For me, belief in Jesus' resurrection is viable and logical, and far from blind, unreasonable faith.
  • Tons of historical evidence, much of it by non-Christians living at the time.
  • THERE IS OVERWELHMING EVIDENCE. I COULD SPEND DAYS ON THE SUBJECT BUT HERE ARE A FEW TID BITS. http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/jesus/greenleaf.html http://www.chemheritage.org/classroom/chemach/pharmaceuticals/watson-crick.html FRANCIS CRICK WAS A WORLD CLASS MATHEMATICIAN AND HE DECIDED TO GET THE BEST MATHEMATICIAN IN THE WORLD TO WORK WITH HIM ON TESTING THE PROBABILITY OF ONE SINGLE DNA STRAND COMING ABOUT BY CHANCE. IN THE LAWS OF PROBABILITY, ANYTHING 10 TO THE 50th POWER IS CONSIDERED NOT POSSIBLE. THEIR CALCULATION CAME TO 10 TO THE 40,000th PWR FOR A SINGLE DNA STRAND TO COME INTO BEING. THAT IS 10 WITH 40,000 ZEROs BEHIND IT. IF WE ALL CAME FROM A SINGLE CELL, HOW DID WE GET MALE AND FEMALE? THE APOSTLE PAUL WAS A HISTORICAL PERSON. HE WAS LEFT IN THE OCEAN TWO DAYS AND A NIGHT, BEATIN WITHS RODS TWICE, WAS GIVEN "40 LASHES - ONE" FIVE DIFFERENT TIMES,WAS ALMOST STONED TO DEATH, AND BITTEN BY POISINOUS SNAKES TWICE, IN A PERIOD OF APPROXIMATELY 50 YEARS. YET HE PERSISTED TELLING OF THE RESURRECTED CHRIST UNTIL HE WAS FINALY BEHEADED IN ROME. I HAVE WORKED WITH SOME VERY BRILLIANT PEOPLE OVER 50 YEARS AND ALSO STUDIED ABOUT POW's THAT WENT THROUGH TERRIBLE TORTURES. *** TOO MY KNOWLEDGE NONE OF THEM VOLUNTEERED TO BE TORTURED, NOR PUT UP WITH IT FOR FIFTY YEARS. I KNOW THAT WE HAVE BEEN INDOCTRINATED BY RAMBO MOVIES BUT THE APOSTLE PAUL WAS THE REAL DEAL. MY CONCLUSION AFTER STUDYING ALL OF THE ABOVE IS AS FOLLOWS. WHEN A UNIVERSITY PROFFESOR OR ANY ONE ELSE STARTS CLAIMING THAT ALL OF THE ABOVE IS NOT TRUE. I TRY TO LOOK INTO THEIR BACKGROUNDS TO DETERMINE IF THEY HAVE ENDURED ANY OF THE THINGS LIKE THE APOSTLE PAUL FOR THEIR TESTIMONY. IF THEY HAVE ENDURED EVEN A FEW THINGS I WILL CONTINUE TO LISTEN. A MISTAKE THAT MANY PEOPLE MAKE ABOUT THE BIBLE IS THAT IT MUST BE ACCEPTTED ON THE BASIS OF BLIND FAITH. THIS IS NOT SO, IT IS TO BE A FAITH THAT INCLUDES KNOWLEDGE THOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN PEOPLE WITH JUST GREAT FAITH SUCH AS THE PEOPLE IN THE OLD TESTAMENT. WE IN THIS GENERATION HAVE MUCH MORE HISTORY AND EVIDENCE TO GO ON.
  • It really makes no difference. You either believe the biblical account or you don't. That is called faith. (Rom 10:17) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Heb 11:1) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
  • Well, there are actually 4 different books written by those who lived at the time of Jesus's Resurrection, that agree that he did come back to life. They are the books of the gospel. But because they are the 4 books of the gospel, those without faith dismiss them from being factual.
  • That's a very interesting question. There is no archeological evidence to support the birth or life of Christ. So, no, there isn't any to support the Resurrection. +6
  • Yes, in fact, there is very much so. Much evidence can be found in the Bible. Where it's commonly believed to be "just a religious book", it's actually a book of history, telling of actual events that have happened in history that can, and have been, verified. Historical evidence for Jesus' resurrection can of course be found in all four gospels, and also in most of the New Testament books, most notably in the creed in 1Corinthians 15:3-7. This creed predates even the gospels! The first thing to establish, is the historicity of Jesus. The existence of Jesus in history is actually a well established fact. Many historians have written about Him, such as Tacitus, Flavius Josephus(disputed), Pliny the Younger, Suetonius, Thallus, Lucian, etc. I would also hold the Bible as good evidence that Jesus really did historically live. Next thing is the death of Christ. Did He really die? First, He goes through a beating, then a flogging. People don't normally survive a flogging, but Jesus did, being the MAN'S man that He was. After the flogging, He seemed to go through hypovolemic shock, due to His inability to carry His crossbeam up the hill, and His thirst on the cross. As for the crucifixion, there was no way He got out alive from that. For one, the flogging and two beatings before would have greatly contributed to His death upon the cross. After a short nine hours of being on the cross Jesus died. To verify His death, one of the roman soldiers put a spear into Him. The soldier's lives depended on Him dying BEFORE being let down from the cross, due to Roman military custom. Jesus was very much so dead. Now as for the answer to your question, there's much evidence to the resurrection after His death and burial. Being crucified and buried in the same city(Jerusalem), and being such an influential person, EVERYONE, Jew and Christian alike is going to know where Jesus' tomb is. I mention this for the fact that no one disputed the fact that Jesus' tomb was empty the following sunday morning. Now as to whether or not this was due to Jesus raising from the dead or not was a different story. The Jews claimed the disciples had stolen Jesus' body, but this wouldn't make sense, as the disciples had scattered after His death and had completely lost all hope. How would they all the sudden pull together and start a church that lasts even till today??? Besides that, why would they DIE for something they KNOW to be a lie? That makes absolutely NO sense. Another theory is that the officials stole the body, but that's an even worse theory! For one, this doesn't explain the appearances after Jesus' death, and when Peter was preaching in Acts 2, they wouldn't have listened to Peter when he claimed that Jesus raised to life, seeing as they could have just produced the body themselves. Besides that, why would they even want to steal the body? A few other things to note: The first to learn of Jesus' resurrection of Christ were women. This is extremely significant due to the culture of the time, since women's testimony were considered completely worthless. Another thing to note is that even skeptics had been converted, such as James, Jesus' brother. Communion and Baptism are also two good things to take a look at. Communion for what it celebrates. When people celebrate someone, they usually celebrate how good they are, etc. Whereas communion is for the death of Christ, which is quite an unusual thing to celebrate for anyone in any culture at any time. And baptism goes along the same lines in that it celebrates the death and resurrection of Christ. I hope this answers your question. Feel free to ask questions. And by the way, this is only the tip of the iceberg...
  • Are you looking for evidence to reinforce your faith? I know there's a lot of evidence that disproves the resurrection but if this is about doubt I invite you to look at the thing at it's face value. It's a Myth. Welcome to the desert of the real.
  • The open coffin, the cape, blood everywhere...oh, no, wait, that was Dracula!
  • Archaeological evidence? Well, no, there's not. There is some extra-biblical historical evidence to support the existence of Jesus. However, I don't think any of them mention Jesus being a zombie.
  • very simply, no there is not actual hard evidence
  • An empty tomb. The account of His communication with His disciples found in Luke 24:23-53. This is Gods' Word to YOU. God is not accountable to US, WE are on trial, not HIM. He isn't a sinner, WE are. Spoken in love of course!!
  • No, and not eveybody believes it happened...
  • No, none whatsoever.
  • Yes, there are documents showing his crucifixion. Also, you just have to look at the persecution the Christians faced. If Jesus hadn't really risen again, why didn't the Romans just bring out his body? Then you can take the sheer conviction of the Disciples, and their ability to grow from a small Jewish messanaic cult of about 70 people to the dominant religion in the western world. While crazy people can and do convince others of their beliefs, they tend to turn more people off then they convert simply because of the wildness of their claims. This is a good article on the case for the Resurrection: http://highschoolapologetics.wordpress.com/2008/11/22/the-resurrection/
  • The Bible itself proclaims that Jesus was resurrected. In light of that there have been many archaeological findings that "confirm" the Bible as containing the truths that it has claimed for near 5000 years. So in that respect yes, there is historical proof to support the Resurrection of Messiah.
  • none, except the evidence and accounts God gave us through the Believers in HIS WORD..... it is quite thrilling though, the evidence of historical and archeaological finds that support the Bible that are more and more becoming known, that they can no longer give an excuse except that the Bible is TRUTH.... haven't found where yet but it's there, read many times, Jesus said, I believe it was to Peter, "Blessed are those who have SEEN and BELIEVED, even more BLESSED will be , them that have not seen, but HEARD and Believed"...so, there will be millions wanting signs and evidence, can't Beleive without it..... there is none of this evidence of either the Ressurrection or the Ascension, just of those who were present at both..... i've read fiction of archeaologists finding Noah's Ark and Eden...but realize even if this happened there will still be those who would just never WANT to believe....but I do wonder if this may be in God's Plan before it all finished......to give this evidence to us....probably not...we have all the signs given to us...but it would be an eye opener !!!! some on here say the Bible has no evidence...the whole Bible sings of the Savior that will suffer, shed HIS blood, die , ascend....so the Bible certainly has the Scarlet thread account that runs through it....from Old covenant to the NEW.....HE Accomplished ....
  • None, just as there is none for his existence to begin with.
