The racial makeup of the borough was 98.06% White, 0.32% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.97% Asian, 0.32% from Race (United States Census)other races, and 0.22% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.32% of the population. There were 372 households out of which 29.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.0% were Marriagemarried couples living together, 12.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.1% were non-families. 24.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 2.91. In the borough the population was spread out with 23.1% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 17.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 85.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.5 males. The median income for a household in the borough was $34,938, and the median income for a family was $38,906. Males had a median income of $32,857 versus $18,750 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $16,332. About 2.3% of families and 4.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 1.4% of those under age 18 and 7.6% of those age 65 or over.
