If you put the candle holder in the freezer for at least an hour, the wax will usually come right out.

Place a sheet of parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Place the candle holder upside down on the parchment paper and put in a warm oven until the wax loosens from the candle holder. The parchment paper will help absorb the melted wax and make clean-up of your cookie sheet much easier.

You can also place the holders in warm-hot water. This allows the wax to loosen its grip and usually removed in one large piece.

Or what works for me is to simply heat the outside of the candle holder until the was melts enough to pour out than clean with a damp cloth

Just found out that those new Eraser sponges work miracles. I had tart burners caked with wax that wouldn't come off so I soaked them in hot soapy water for a bit then the wax wiped right off with the Eraser sponge.
