Everything you've mentioned.

It is the balance between all of them, you have to find a cheap brand(usually store brand) that is also soft and sturdy. You want something that you can appreciate and also feel like you didn't throw away your wallet for
-
Softness. You can always double up if it's soft, but you can't soften sandpaper, and, pardon my French, but you're wiping fecal matter, so who cares about style? And if the price of toilet paper is a capitol expense, perhaps it's time to go back to school, or lay off the grains.

I prefer strength, softness and affordability. I don't want 1 ply that disintegrates, and I don't want to have to waste it. Also, it needs to be soft. I have a sensitive tushy, and my TP needs to accommodate that. Affordable, well that just speaks for itself.

softness rules around here.

Strength and softness are often found together these days in one product. Quilted Northern tissue is the fave in the Swabby429 household.

Northern quilted used to rule, but it has diminished in quality..........Have found Cottonelle Ultra to be better than most.
