Names of fictional characters in TV shows or movies are usually created from the writer's memories of friends or relatives, sometimes to make some unknown person "famous," if even for a very brief moment. There was a recent "Outer Limits" episode called, "A Stitch in Time" (1996) which featured a Death Row inmate named Jerome Horowitz. This was probably some sort of a nod on the part of the scriptwriter, Steven Barnes, to a real person named Jerome Horwitz (without the second "O" in his surname). You may know the real Jerome Horwitz by his stage name: "Curly Howard" of "The Three Stooges." +5
