Matthew 7:1-5 without a dobut: "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." Christian's often use this verse against other denominations/sects of Christianity in order to defend their own beliefs. Atheists use it out of context as well. As Z-Weezy mentioned... judge not is a great candidate, not only for the reason he said, but that teaching also gives the formula for being forgiven by God. "Forgive others and God will forgive you." That's the part that has been neglected since it suggests that it is our actions that will bring judgement on us rather than what we believe. The most misused? John 3:16 This is the one that gets my vote for the most misused: it's John 3:16... "God so loved the world that he gave etc." That verse is presented as if it is about the Crucifixion, which it is not. Back then it was illegal to see someone naked in public. So to also give them the tonic makes you naked and they are in trouble for seeing you. - 3-If ask you to go 1 mile go with them 2-- The roman soldiers were allowed to have people carry their gear for 1 mile any more than that and the soldier would be arrested for it. Genesis 1:1-31. By this, I mean a strict acceptance that God created every star, tree, animal, person and rock in 6 days, to the exclusion of science. Our understanding continues to grow with the passing millennia. What more could God want of us?
