  • No it is simply having the faith that there is no God.
  • If so then I'm a lousy cult member.
  • I would tend to say religions are cults against atheism.
  • Aetheism is choosing not to follow any religion, so how would it be a cult religion if there is no religion at all?
  • Atheism is positive and progressive.. the exact opposite of a cult religion. Eg. Sweden is 85% secularised; one of the best places in the world to live. Don't trust religious fundamentalists as a source of information.
  • Contrariwise, atheism led to Social Darwinism, which is not positive or progressive in any way!
  • "Atheist" is nothing more than a word to describe someone who does not believe in a god or gods. That's it. There's no creed, no ritual, no membership, no meeting house, no nothin'.
  • Social Darwinism was introduced by Herbert Spencer, no "C-fun" whatever you call it. He was the actual guy that coined the term, "Survival of the fittest." (most ppl think it was Charles Darwin, but he started the concept of Evolution). Atheism, the belief that there is no God, leads ppl to a different view on life and humanity. What is our purpose? To evolve, to survive. What is the point of life? Um, evolve? If all we are is the latest model of "ape", then the purpose in life is to progress to an even better, more superior model of "ape". So...Social Darwinism, which supports the neglect of the weak and brutal leadership of the strong. Hitler, for example, was a product of Social Darwinism--he wanted to make the perfect race, the superior race. There are many other examples in history.
  • I don't see what the lack of religion has to do with being a "cult religion."
  • Well it is a belief, the belief of no God
  • Nope. No gods - hence no religion. No central beliefs and no central personalities - hence no cult. +5
  • Time for you to invest in a dictionary.
  • Hardly... atheism is not even a religion, so quite how it could be considered a "cult religion" I have no idea! Even if it was a religion (straying into the realm of imagination here) it wouldn't have any of the characteristics of a cult.
  • This is actually a good question. Just like most religions alot Atheists do go out of their way to force their beliefs (or dis-beliefs if you will) on others. As far as I know they are not organized like a cult or religion but they do seem to hang out with others of the same mindset. They don't worship God cerimoniously but they do tend to worship themselves as human beings. They have no faith in a God but yet they do put hope and faith in science. I'm trying to give a non biased viewpoint determined by my own observations and experiences. As far as I can tell collective Atheism is basically the same. Same shit different beliefs.
  • no. we don't kill people wo try and leave. i personally congratulate them
  • Atheism is not a religion
  • Atheism is not a religion so can not be a cult religion.
  • I cannot see that you can call atheism a cult when it has no organisation and makes no demands upon its "members". While it is a fuzzy definition, what makes a religion a cult is that it makes strong demands upon its members, which have the effect at least in part of cutting them off from the rest of society. This is very far from what atheism does.
  • Hardly. One cannot NOT go to an afterlife in Atheism.
  • Atheism is Not believing in a God. Everyone who believes this, doesn't need a "group" of people to meet with to discuss the "rules of atheism" There are no rules. You cannot have a cult of "one".
  • Yes. Kind of in the same way that windowshopping or football are cult religions.
  • Yes I do!....I don`t believe in gods so obviously I`ll need to join a cult religion. DOH!
  • Religion is a cult. Atheism is common sense.
  • There is more to it all and people are afraid to look at it all. That goes for life itself and everything in it. There are always two sides to any issue look at both.
  • Not a religion and not a cult. It is just a non belief.
  • Yeah man, it's all about dancing naked in some creepy forest and having sex with goats and eating wind. Also, no.
  • I'm stealing this but atheism is a religion like off is a TV station
  • Who cares. If it works for you, go for it.
  • YES... I don’t believe in gods and I never go to a church so obviously I must be religious. Well done for spotting that!
  • Yes. Also, not believing in the Tooth Fairy is another cult religion. And don't forget not believing in Santa Clause is another cult religion. Oh, and not believing in ghosts is another cult religion. Basically, not believing in a certain thing automatically makes it a cult religion.
  • Nope - it has far too many followers - and it has nothing to do with religion in the first place.
  • As for faith being good or bad then I cannot see how believing in something can be a bad thing. The problem comes by those who abuse it and do what has been observed throughout history and can even be seen here on this site, the demand that others believe what I do. My problem is that my faith and experience is so profound I would liek everybody to at least consider it.
  • Atheism isn't a religion just like theism isn't a religion! And therefore, not a cult religion.
  • Atheism isn't a Religion because Religion is guide to help show all living entities how to live, act, think, and pray. Pure Religion is the path ways that show’s one the purpose of life is to solely serve, devote, and love God. Thus, such a pure soul will be freed from this world and enter the eternal kingdom of the Lord where that soul can understand God as he is, in All of His Magnificent Glory. Atheism in contrast is the opposite. Despite their behavior, dedication, and mind set; atheists and other souls are all children of God. The difference is that atheists have forgotten their position with God due to their association with this world. Instead of dedicating their lives to God in pure devotion, they focus on devoting themselves to the seven deadly sins; which are lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and false pride. And thus, atheists fall further and further down into the path of sin and misery and in their conditioned state, they are not able to reach, understand or love God. However if any atheist is shown proper guidance and follows the direct teachings of the Lord and chooses to give up their sinful ways; they too can purify their existence and reach the Lord as well. Hope my answer was helpful. God bless the Lord and all of his Children.
