Following the untimely death of Bruce Lee, there were many rumors and speculations about the cause of his death. These rumors ranged from murder to drug overdose. None of which were true. For the most part, the course of events on that fateful July day in 1973 can be pieced together. According to Lee's wife, Linda, Bruce met film producer Raymond Chow at 2 p.m. at home to discuss the making of Game of Death. They worked until 4 p.m., and then drove together to the home of Betty Tingpei, a Taiwanese actress who was to also have a leading role in the film. The three went over the script at Tingpei's home, and then Chow left to attend a dinner meeting. A short time later, Lee complained of a headache and Tingpei gave him a tablet of Equagesic a kind of super apirin. Apart from that, Lee reportedly consumed nothing but a couple of soft drinks. At around 7:30 p.m., Lee lay down for a nap and was still asleep when Chow called to ask why he and Tingpei had not yet shown up for dinner as planned. The actress told Chow she could not wake Lee. The ensuing autopsy found traces of cannabis in Lee's stomach, but the significance of this discovery is debatable. Some believe the cannabis caused a chemical reaction that led to the cerebral edema, but the coroner's inquiry refutes this theory. In fact, one doctor was quoted as saying that the cannabis being in Lee's stomach was "no more significant than if Bruce had drunk a cup of tea that day." After a lengthy coroner's inquest in Hong Kong. A panel of medical experts eventually concluded that Bruce Lee had died from a hypersensitive reaction to a compound in the drug Equagesic. This hypersensitivity led to a swelling of the brain and resulted in Bruce Lee entering a deep coma from which he never awoke. The coroner declared himself satisfied with the finding, and so did Linda Lee, his wife.

i was always told that he died of a heart failure, im not really that sure but bruce and brandon lees deaths are not just coincendences to me, i think they were deliberately killed but i could be wrong

The theory I got was that someone may have done a technique on him during one of his practices that may have taken time to affect him. He would have no way of knowing who that person was because of so many people he was in contact with in the making of his two films. But whomever it was, knew what they were doing. And I believe when he died, that person was responsible.

I got this from a source in Indonesia. Apparently Bruce Lee had a fight with an Indonesian martial art expert (I believe his name is Dzulkarnaen). I wasnt sure if it was a friendly fight or if its a competition but Bruce suffered several internal blows during the fight. He didnt tell anyone about this and didnt show any physical pain even though he was in pain. He kept this in silence and finally died due to internal injury. Before his death, he did reveal to a close friend of his that if he were to die, no one should know about the fight he had with the Indonesian martial art expert and the injury which he suffered from the fight. The 'friend' obviously a loyal friend of Bruce, kept this secret till this very age. However, several Indonesians knew about this and there was an article in an Indoenesian media which did confirmed that Bruce death was somehow related to the fight he had with the Indonesian martial arts expert.

Read Tom Bleecker's Book. He claims Bruce took Striods etc.. and this made a contribution to his deth by cerebral edema. Tom believes- Bruce was either poisoned or suffered massive adrenal failure from steroid or drug abuse. This caused the edema, swelling of the brain! More recent findings in the medical community suggest that Bruce Lee may have died from sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP), which was only recognized in 1995. Not many know that Bruce callapsed on May 10th 1973 (a couple months before he died on July 20th) with the same problem. He was close to death but was saved in time. He was given medication to treat an epileptic disorder. Interesting when you consider SUDEP was recognized 22 years later as a valid epileptic condition brought on by stress and lack of sleep. Out of all the theories, this makes the most sense to me. What may've been a mystery to the medical community in 1973 may be common knowledge 20 years or so later.

i was watching a documentry about bruce saying he had a meeting with raymond chow and some other guy he started to complain of an head ache then took a tablet wich had an ingredient that killed him. When the did an autopsy they found the head ache was caused by a burst vesle blood then leaked on to his brain. the tablet he took with the ingredient made his brain swell then when he went to lay down he fell unconcious and never recovered. he was pronounced dead on the scene

While practicing for a fight scene with an unknown Malatian martial arts expert Bruce struck himself in the back of the head several times with a nunchuck. The coreography of the scene was different than any that Bruce had previously done. He complained of a headache but failed to seek medical assistance. He did not recover from the blunt force trauma created by the nunchuckas. An undocumented Malatian source said that a generous amount of Dos Equis was present at the practice session, though alchohol was never cited as a factor in the accident.

I think he was over-trained. His blood rate was irregular and certain chemicals can cause swelling.

Bruce lee had a perfect trained body, its not at all realated what u people think.... his physical body is so strong that he failed to sense the pains in his body.. and moreover he died due to the tablet he took for headache which was a strong dosage and he had softdrinks with that... for kind information if you take tablet with soft drinks, it will affect a lot and that too headache tablet will directly affect brain.... this is the ultimate and original cause.... and legend is still in rememberence.... he was great

I don't know HOW he died, but for some reason I always attributed the mystery of the cause of death, which is most likely brain related, to the Chinese Mafia who wanted to use him, and his refusal resulted in his assassination. But yeah maybe I watch too many movies.

I really have no clue as to how Bruce died, I am very interested in him and the Lee Curse, I think that his family may know more then they speak of, and I would love to talk to Linda Lee Cadwell and just find out about his life.Bruce is a very intrigueing person to me as is his son Brandon Lee and his Daughter. I do believe in the fact that the curse had part to do with Bruce's and Brandons death and about the fact of fighting your inner fears,how the curse was passed down his bloodline. The curse was placed only on the males of the Lee family and only the males have passed. I Dont know how much people know about the Lee family but Brandon was the one that was accidentally shot not Bruce.Whether it was accident or not noone knows.Anyways I wish Linda Lee and her family blessings from God and peace to the family and inner strength. Bruce Lee's death is mysterious, but the most LOGICAL solution is an unknown and untreated allergic reaction. Some people will say it was chineese gangsters, but like most gangsters you'd expect a bullet to the head or a car bomb. Not to die in his sleep on someones couch.

Bruce Lee died because of too much stress and lack of sleep that caused his brain to swell and caused edema. The incidents in Japan, where many business man worked too much and died over stressed and collapsed (karoushi) is the same.

From a friend of Bruce Lee: I suppose the cause of Bruce’s death is from his too much diet. He lost much weight until he reached a moment that he had no fat in his body. We all know that fat absorbs the poison and this is known when a thin person smokes he dies quickly from cancer. A fat man is not affected from the smoke because his fats absorb the nicotine. If you watch Bruce's last film Inter the Dragon you will see that his skin is attached to his bones. He may be also suffering from cancer from injuries he had before and this is shown clearly when Linda his wife accepted the cause of his death quickly. I don't believe that the Chinese Mafia killed him, because this country got famous because of this interesting character. All Asia love him and the KUNG FU also is famous because of only one person called Bruce Lee and no one else.
