  • Whadabout six thousand years of credulity? ;-)
  • Christians do not need proof, for them faith is enough.
  • We know God by faith not by sight. We read the Word and pray, and we are comforted and encouraged. No one can "prove" God exists until Jesus returns, and then it will be too late for the unbelievers to convert. Things are different when you are dealing with God; most people don't have much of a problem with that.
  • Why do you need them to prove anything to you?
  • They believe despite the evidence to the contrary. It's sad really.

What evidence? You can't prove God doesn't exist!
  • I've addressed this issue here on AB before. And the answer is "No, I cannot prove to anyone that God exists." The existance of God is a matter of personal faith to each individual. And faith, by definition, is "belief in the absence of proof". People take on faith many aspects of their day-to-day lives, not to mention their other secular beliefs. For example, I am a nuclear engineer. I spent 20 years operating and maintaining nuclear propulsion plants on U.S. Navy submarines. I now work as a nuclear engineer at a naval shipyard. I cannot see the atom directly. I cannot see fission occur directly. The reasons it DOES occur are theoretical and complex. Yet I believe in the processes behind nuclear power as an energy source. In effect, I believe in nuclear power on faith because despite all the evidence I CANNOT prove the existance of nuclear fission by direct observation. To my wife, however, what I do is basically based on a pack of lies. As far as she is concerned, what I've learned about nuclear power isn't real and I have no idea about anything like how much exposure I get from my job and so forth. Essentially, "I only believe whatever they tell me about nuclear power." The analogy is pretty much the same for your question. I believe in God as a matter of faith, based as much on the wonders I see around me every day as the things I was taught and read about. That is MY decision, MY belief. You may or may not believe the same thing at all. Fine. If you wish, I can only tell you about my beliefs and philosophies. I don't expect it to sway you one way or the other. And I will not put you down for your belief, whatever it is. As Anonymous said on another posting here: "Why do you need them to prove anything to you?"
  • there is no proof. its is shared experiences. many people share a similar experience. they conclude they are communicating with the devine. it could just be part of the spirit hierarchy that is on the planet today. it doesnt help to say they dont exist.
  • so many religions around the world preach of a god be it christian or islam jews what ever god is not just for the christians...he is for the world...
  • It comes down to a basic question. Do you believe the earth is 6,000 years old or billions of years old. I hold the latter to be true so there cannot be creator. I also do not have proof that Odin, Thor, Ra, Zeus, Unicorns, Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny and Pixies exist, does that make it true also?
    • Linus van Pelt
6,000 years and all life on the planet has not been destroyed in a cosmic accident seems like a pretty good miracle to me, but you believe an even greater miracle that life on the planet has been preserved for billions of years.
  • No way to prove it, but you can show evidence that there is truth to it, if you live by the good principles listed in the Bible, thereby showing evidence that it can work properly. There's plenty of examples of it not working properly, and those get an unfathomable amount of attention. No one seems to notice how many Christians out there live great lives. It's hard to deny how much the religion has benefited many people. I personally think there are some good things in the Bible, and some not so good things... and I think it's pretty easy to tell which are which. Use the good, chalk the bad up as nonsense, and don't be afraid to admit that it is nonsense. That's my philosophy at this point in my life, right or wrong, I feel that it's right for me. I struggled with the issue of belief/disbelief for many years, having been raised to never question the Bible. There's just too much illogical nonsense, and some things that seem pure evil as best I can tell. I can't ignore that. I believe in God because I've seen evidence of supernatural power in my own life and the lives of others. I guess I'm lucky to have those experiences. I don't KNOW with absolute certainty that there is a God, but I believe it strongly. I don't know which stories are true and which are false, but I get the meaning behind a lot of the stories. Also, there are many straightforward statements regarding how to live, a lot of wisdom and great morality taught in the Bible, etc.
  • Well, since everyone knows there is no proof, and never will be....I already have my answer figured out. Its not something that is without in the world, but something that you will find within, and once you have it then you will know...so that is a question you will need to figure out on your own...nobody can answer it for you.
  • I still have a shot at getting back with the woman I love, after so much hurt and mistakes. That's how great God is, he still there for me even in the most horrible days... Last week she told me she still loves me. God works in Mysterious ways.. I thrust Him, and that's all I need to move on..
  • "For God’s wrath is being revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who are suppressing the truth in an unrighteous way, because what may be known about God is manifest among them, for God made it manifest to them. For his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable; because, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God nor did they thank him, but they became empty-headed in their reasonings and their unintelligent heart became darkened. Although asserting they were wise, they became foolish and turned the glory of the incorruptible God into something like the image of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed creatures and creeping things." (Rom 1:20) Pretty spot on for words written 2000 years ago.
  • It is by faith . Its a relationship and when you talk to God and really listen He speaks in to your heart. You know that you know that you know. Ask and He will answer, if you are looking you will see then. We can't live off of another person's personal relationship. We need one each for ourself and that what makes it so special. When you get answers from prayers that only He would know He becomes even closer to you.
  • open your closet door, shuffle behind the clothes and you will find a box, a magical box. In the box there is a red pill and a blue pill. God (AKA Morpheus) left that box there for you. the decision is yours....
  • Lynn-is Lost, is this something you really want to know? As a Christian I use the Bible as the main authority for my beliefs. But I back that with Historical facts and even science will back up the Bible. Here is a link that asks "Is There a God Who Cares?" I hope you find it helpful. https://www.jw.org/finder?srcid=jwlshare&wtlocale=E&prefer=lang&docid=1101975010

  • Why only Christians? No Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Janes or a myriad of others among the billions on the planet who believe in a deity/deities? 6/29/23
  • Exodus 3:3 “And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.” Have you ever experienced goodness in your life that you could not explain but that caused you to change for the better? An explanation for everything that surpasses scientific reason is found in God’s written communication to us, the Bible. The knowledge found in the scriptures is the key to impressing the reality of God's goodness upon us in a way that rings truer than true and deepens our understanding. To know the truth is to understand that everything good that ever comes our way is from God. Romans 2:4 “...knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?”
  • They can't why they are all liars they will attack everyone that doesn't agree with their views but the reality is there is no proof what so ever .
  • So what is there to prove? Just look around you; do you really think all this happened by some kind of accident?

The question already addressed your former question, so I will only comment on the latter - this is a red herring. Think about it for one moment - if someone answers "yes" to the question, does that mean anything at all? If you think so, then I suppose your faith would have an existential crisis. If not, then that's merely proof that the question isn't logically connected to whatever point you hope to make.
