I assume you mean a fist fight. Get in the first punch and make sure it really hurts-them I mean, not you.

Emotions, forget any if present. Otherwise you are the beaten one. Use your opponents own energy against him, and save yours for the last blow.

for me, the most important thing in a fight is that there are no rules. I don't stand around pushing someone and they push me back while we both talk smack and dare one another to swing. The most important thing I have learned is if someone is seriously a threat, then I need to incapacitate that person as quickly as possible with little to no harm to myself. Strike hard and fast before they even knew what ht them...yeah it might seem cool to trade punches like they do in movies but in reality, bones, noses and other body parts bleed, break or get damaged much much easier than on tv. A punch to the nose doesn't mean a single dribble of blood comes out and you are just fine (or even worse, you just snap your nose back in place and go on about your day). No, one punch to the nose means lots of blood, blurry vision, probably 1-2 black eyes and a lot of pain the next day.

Hit their cell phone first, to prevent them calling their friends LOL. I was told by my martial arts teacher that running away is the best thing. If that's not an option, I'd go for a sideways kick to the knee. You have an answer yourself, RobotMan?
