I don't think so.
-
yea... money is money in this corrupt superficial world nowadays so yes
-
By law, yes indeed! ;-)
-
I once heard there was a limit to this.
-
I think it depends what you are buying. If you are at McDonald's go for it. I did.
-
Actually, pennies are NOT legal tender. But if they're in penny rolls, they usually take them anyway.
-
Yes. But they won't like it. If it is busy, they'll let you wait.
-
any business has the right to deny service to anyone, so no.
-
http://www.snopes.com/business/money/pennies.asp this is pretty self-explanitory.
-
No, they have the right to refuse, though most will accept a certain amount if they are rolled.

In the UK, where a good or service is to be provided, a cashier may accept anything or nothing except illegal items as payment; it's entirely up to them. If the cashier was receiving payment for a debt, then they MUST accept any legal tender. That is, UK bank account, UK guarenteed cheques, 20 * 1p, 20 * 2p, 20 * 5p, 20 * 10p, 20 * 20p, 50 * 50p, and 200 * in £1, £2, £5 coins, upto £9,500 in Bank of England bank notes.

The policy is set by your employer. But retailers do not have to accept an excessive number of pennies.
-
yes but they may make you roll them 1st
-
I hope it does not happen often, but they should since it is money.
-
Yes, but they can ask you to roll them first.
-
Yes they can.
-
I have never thought of that. The answer would be yes I presume.
-
That's how I used to pay my parking tickets. It is still only $2.00 here but I haven't had one for awhile.
-
They are required to, but let's put it this way, what are you going to do if they tell you no? I would if I were waiting on you and you handed me hundreds of pennies. That is just rude and inconsiderate. Go to a bank or somewhere where they will exchange them for larger amounts.

Well, I work at Starbucks and ''customer is always right'' at Starbucks. so once this dude came and ordered 3 coffees and paid for them in 1, 2 and 5 pence coins... Ill' remember his face till I die...

My brother went into a Giant Food Store to buy cases of soda to restock a machine at work. He tried to pay for them with change from that machine. They kicked him out of the store, telling him that paying with coins wastes peoples time. So he went to the bank and they gave him coin wrappers to wrap them. Even the bank refused them not rolled.
-
It would be up to the employer who would probably say yes.
-
Yes, unless it is posted otherwise. Woman did this to pay her electric bill. We all waited in line for 30 minutes, while the cashier counted her bag of loose coins. Rage is not a good enough word for how we felt.

I tried that at a toll booth once. They took my drivers license instead. One of my kids Took my ez pass and didn't tell me. I had no money I was counting pennies and they wouldn't take them. I said its Legal Tender, and they told me not unless its Wrapped already.
