Is there a way to modify websites' layout using e.g. Greasemonkey such that an originally left-aligned layout is displayed as genuinely centered (several workarounds exist that do not actually center it but simply shift it more to the middle)?

I suspect that the most reliable method would be to insert the entire top-level node of the page tree inside a DIV and put a center alignment on that DIV. But, I haven't tried this in script. I have done it building pages, but it's been a long time.
