  • i think they just made it all up.
  • They made it up. The producer said that he used this seemingly stereotypical approach of the country to denote America's ignorance about such countries, (Funny how he didn't say any of that until after Slovakia showed offense at his film.) and in fact, while the country is real, the location of the film's events has a fictional name. Not only is this made up, but the cultural and technological portrayal of Slovakia within the film is extremely inaccurate. (It wasn't even filmed in Slovakia at all, either.) Yes, horrible stuff happens in other places, but you know torture is never as far as we think it is...but this film has no real life source, and something like in the movie couldn't exist anyway, if it did, it would have made history somewhere.
