No. I can only remember my mother encouraging me to drink milk.
-
No, we didnt have much choice it was water or Kool-Aid.

My mother would encourage me to drink my milk, by saying, "Drink your milk, before it gets COLD!" It took me almost 30 years to figure that out, but at the time she said it, I drank my already-cold milk down immediately, because I didn't want my milk to get cold (?), and my young mind had not yet figured out the humor in what she was saying. My mother would also yell, when my younger brother and I would run outside and leave the door ajar, "CLOSE THAT DOOR! ALL THE FLIES ARE ESCAPING!" Mom was "strange," at times... (1923-87) R.I.P. Mom

Not encourage, but when I was a child we couldn't afford squashes and soda etc so water was the only thing to drink.
-
Not really, sometimes my dad would say "You should drink 8 8oz. glasses of water a day." I drink a lot of water now though. Mostly they tried to get me to drink milk, because I was not a milk drinker.
-
Nope. When I was growing up water was not the Holy Grail that it seems to be today. We were encouraged to drink milk instead of soda though. Happy Wednesday CT! :) ((hugs))
-
we had no choice it was water or nothing.
-
It was actually more milk than water for me.
-
I was encouraged to drink fresh fruit juice. Milk too but I loved milk so it was no problem. They never really tried to get me to drink water though.
-
I, honestly, cannot remember being told or encouraged to drink water ... not even one time. Hmmmmmmm ....
-
I don't recall my mom ever giving me water to drink as a child. I drank a lot of juice growing up, and water out of the hose when I was outside playing (gross) but during meals it was usually cranberry or apple juice. Now I'm curious, because my mom drinks water primarily. I'll have to ask her ...
-
I've never really thought about it, but no I they didn't.
-
yes and i hated water, and now i love it. ;)

Yes, other drinks we couldn't have all the time, :0)

No, they hardly drink water themselves, and my dad wouldn't have wanted me to do that as it would have been too healthy, and he has a strange hatred of doing healthy things....
-
had no choice - orange juice was a luxury bought about three times a year

No, they encouraged me to drink milk. Even at school we had a program providing all the kids with milk, while we now know that water would have been much better.

Most of the time, all we had to drink was water, milk, or iced tea.
