when i fly i usually for at least 4 hours (from TN to CA) so i bring my Ipod, a portable DVD player and thats about it. A decent portable dvd player can last to about 4 hours so you can watch an average of 2 movies and be done with the flight. also i bring a lunch because flying makes me very hungry.

Maybe a dvd player, an e-reader, a bible, a psp or other gaming device. Your phone for facebook etc

Neck pillow, phone and ear buds along with a subscription to spotify premium to listen to predownloaded music and podcasts. I know some people like to bring fluffy socks but I personally don't. If there's a book I'm currently reading I'll bring that.

A decent pair of ear buds or headphones that work with airline movie audio jacks. The cheapies they give you are terrible and frequently so bad you miss a lot of the movie diologe. Also try and get seats AHEAD of the plane engines for far less noise.
