what is so entertaining about any movie? What makes any movie entertaining or not is going to vary. Silent movies were made because we did not have the technology to include sound at the time. They are made occasionally still but usually by film students or people making "art". Some are good and some are not so good.

I like them,I don't see them much anymore,but they show a real character,the true actors skills to express their emotions,without words or sound effects distracting your senses.

The images on the screen are entertaining. The viewer can see the words on the screen as to what the actors are saying. Some silent movies were great and others not so great. Silent movies came to an end in 1929. I have a wide variety of movies in my DVD collection and there are some movies that I have are silent. I have Nosferatu, a few silent movies from Alfred Hitchcock and some Laurel & Hardy movies. They were classics.
