  • There is no such thing as ideal - it is different for everyone and every event. Wear something that will not be too warm or adsorb too much sweat. Also make sure it does not rub you at spots like your inner thighs or under arms. Wear something that you normally run in. You want to make sure you are comfortable in it.
  • When you are going the long distance, especially on a hot day, the ideal clothes are found in fabrics that wick away moisture from your skin. Tops: I'd go with a tank top or a t-shirt made of heat gear fabric. Bottoms: my preferred choice are 2XU compression leggings, Under Armour compression shorts under running shorts, and the core run capri tights. Other than that, you can wear any clothes that makes you feel comfortable. I don't run marathons, but I do run at my local track. These are just my ideal clothes for running.
