  • I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 157,000 miles and have had the same problem for about 5 years now, I purchased the vehicle brand new and never had a major problem with my vehicle except for that one. My advice to you, go to the fuse box located in the passenger seat's area where legs rest, locate fuse 14, remove the fuse every night before going to sleep. I have serviced my Jeep twice and no one has been able to come up with a solution, I've had door switches replaced and wirings checked and still no solution. I hope we hear from someone who actually fixed this problem. I removed the fuse long time ago and I got used to live without lights inside.
  • I have the same problem. I replaced the body control module. nothing. I replaced the headlight switch and guess what. It fixed my problem. the alarm light goes on when doors lock and the dome lights stay off, but that was short lived. I replaced a valve cover gasket the following day and look inside and the f---dome lights were on again. Checked rear window switch, unhooked rear door switch and thought it cured it. yeah for about an hour. Removed all the door switches, heck no. finally pulled every wire connector from fuse box and found a couple of wires that when wiggled would make the lights go out. but now cannot duplicate the problem by wiggling the wires. Now the lights are staying off again but the redlight on alarm wont come on. HELLPPP
  • check your headlight switch and see if it got turned too far to the right. what many do not know is the head light switch acts as a dimmer switch to the dash lights and if the switch is turned too far will turn in the interior lights. good luck.
  • My problems started when my daughter kept driving a soaked vehicle. I think mud dobbers plug the hose on the sunroof blocking of the tube that drains water. whenever she took off water would come out of the ceiling until finally it was so wet it drowned out the amp and started causing the dome lights to come on for no reason, after the car is shut off.
  • I ended up putting a switch and a inline fuse and removed the fuse that controls all the interior lights. I tried just removing the courtesy light fuse but lights in the front door still came on. Anyway now before starting the jeep, I turn on the switch to complete the fuse circuit. After I shut off the jeep I turn the switch off so the fuse circuit is open and there is no chance for the lights to come on. Hopefully it wont take 5 years to figure this one out.
