Yes, they can be entertaining as well as informational. I like science and history programs especially.

Documentaries. Much less drama.

I do watch documentaries if the subject interests me. I never watch any of the reality shows, would rather watch paint dry.
-
Documentaries any day, their more real than reality tv.
-
I love documentaries, they contain a whole lot of information and are excellent for cultural purposes. International Cable TV Channels are the very best.
-
Reality TV has gone overboard since the original Survivor. Id rather watch a documantary like Gangland or First 48 anyday.

Documentaries. In fact the only reality tv that I really enjoyed were the PBS ones that were as much documentary as reality, 1900 House, Frontier House, Texas Ranch House and Colonial House. PBS doesn't seem to be doing them anymore and I wish they would. Now that they've proven that modern Americans aren't really up to the challenge I'd love to see them return to each site with new people, preferably people who have some experience and/or expertise in each time period and who watched the first round. I'd love to see them redo Ranch House with the former foreman in charge of everything. He had ranching experience and it might be different with him in the role of ranch owner rather than a hospital administrator.

Documentaries no doubt. watched a great one about bears last night.

I'd prefer documentaries reality T.V. is just too dramatic and i put up with enough drama (my little sister) :D

Documentaries - any day of the week. :) Reality shows give us the "what" of something - as is. Documentaries imply research - then sifting and sorting of all that was found. Then the hard work comes of asking "what does all this information MEAN?" If that isn't enough, in order to SHARE what it means, it has to become a "documentary". Can't just be frame after frame of "stuff". Has to "tell a story" .. have something to engage us with a beginning, middle and end. Yet, it's firmly rooted in factional non-fiction. So while reality shows might entertain or even shock us on the immediate, a documentary can engage us mentally, emotionally, spiritually .. on the immediate .. and if they're good? They (and the insights and info they brought us) can live on within us a good long while after a viewing.

id watch realities because it is hard not to look at it. :)
-
Documentaries any time!!! :)))
-
documentary when watching with my husband but reality on my own...

We love well-made documentaries. Anything by Ken Burns and we're there. The only reality TV we like is a competition of talented "experts"...Project Runway, Top Chef, The Next Food Network Star..we abhor the wives of whatever or big brother or any of that stuff..the people are uniformly weird and we lose interest immediately so we don't even bother watching any more, and haven't for many years. Happy Monday! :)

I love documentaries as I love to learn about things from different perspectives. But there are some reality TV shows I like, though to me they aren't really reality TV, like Top Chef and Project Runway. They seem more like profession competitions to me.
