  • Just to clarify: I'm not trying to "out" anyone, satisfy some fetish, or call anyone sick names. We are what we are. I'm not making any judgements or trying to be hateful towards people's differences. I am not looking for graphic details and / or pictures, those issues are none of my business and not my desire either. It's just that with those statistics, I'm stunned to have never known someone, or even suspected anyone I've seen out and about, as being an intersexed person. Certainly 2000 people have passed before me in some capacity! How about you?
  • I can't say I know someone with this condition but chances are they wouldn't go around telling everyone they met, either. It is also possible that they were medically assigned a sex before they were old enough to remember and were never told.
  • we recently had a baby that has ambiguous genitalia. I was not aware that the condition is well known as id never heard of it before our little girl was born. She has quite a severe form and was born with an enlarged clitoris,a very tiny hole to urinate from, no vaginal opening and no anus. Due to this condition she has Chronic Renal Failure so she only has 10% function in one kidney and nothing in the other. she also has a colostomy, vaginostomy and a vesicostomy. She was also born without an oesophogus, so this involved a nine hour operation to mend. We know she will never look "normal" but she is such a happy baby and looks so healthy despite her problems. To look at her you would never know there was anything wrong, i hope as she gets older she learns to be proud of who she is and isnt embarrassed or ashamed of how she looks, as other people have suggested. I hope maybe this could help someone else if they ever find themselves in our situation.
