Each of the colonies have their own god, 13 in all. Even after the destruction of the 13 colonies by the cylons, religion still played an important part of the people's life.

In many of them, it was the whole reason for their existance. It was the center of town and social life. This became slightly less common as the colonies spread out and towns became more numerous, but religion (specifically, protestantism) was still the focus of the majority of people and towns.
