  • I had a lectur this morning about how electrons behave in this way, its known as wave-particle duality. I believe this is also true for protons, neutrons, qwarks and other subatomic particles.
  • Within Quantum mechanical theory, everything is both particle and wave. This duality stems from the description of all object as wave functions, that "manifest" themselves only upon a measurement (the particle nature). This is not bound to subatomic objects, but practically, the wavelength of macroscopic objects is so small that it is unobservable, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Broglie_hypothesis
