  • Nah. I'm too busy trying to figure out whether I'm at the right terminal or whether they had called my row yet. "Where IS the seat marked on these stupid tickets, anyway!?!"
  • I see a guy with a "turban" every day, and NO i wouldn't
  • Nah, I'll be too busy looking out the window.
  • Honestly, yes I would give them a second look, but the truth is that a terrorist could look like anybody. When I board a plane, I'm already mentally prepared to help take down a terrorist ( no matter who that may be ) if called upon to do so .
  • No, but I just watched Harold And Kumar: Escape From Guantanamo and that's exactly what happened. That movie painted an amazing picture, in a whimsical light of course, of societies' prejudices. In all seriousness, it was an excellent film.
  • No...I would sit next to him because most people would not like this man just because he was wearing a turban AND boarding a plane. Let's say we experienced turbulence and just like I do, he began praying. Can you imagine the reaction of most people? Some would panic; others may harm him. This is a really great question, Mans Man. There was a study done not long ago about different people and the comfort level of those who encounter them. In the study, they used a female.
  • No, that's not my job. Why should this person be any more suspect based on his belief system?
  • With a turban, no... Turbans are worn by Sikh's who are indian. Sikh's are very devout and religious individuals, and generally very warm and friendly. However, many Sikh's have been attacked violently and there have been at least two cases of murder because people have not been aware of this. The religion of Islam does not require Muslims to wear turbans http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turban
  • A Sikh? No. 5 young Muslims that were together in the gate area and sit apart from each other on the plane? Hell yes.
  • No, not for a turban, but if they are middle Eastern dissent between the agaes of 18 to 40 I would pay particular attention to them. Go on line and look at who have been the majority of terrorist. This is not prejudism be being as wise as a serpent and as gentle as a dove. I do not believe profiling is wrong. It maybe unfair, but I do not care. I have been picked out three time in my last five flights. Funny part is, I am white complected, over 40, and was in a military uniform. Right!
  • I wouldn'nt worry about Shik (sp). But sometimes I consider ordering a couple of soft drinks and not opening the cans!
  • no because these poor people get harassed enough already on the way in. the last thing they need is for us to stare them up and down too... i know what it is like to have people judge you as a terrorist when you are not! so i would not do it to them
  • Maybe, but just because he might look funny. XD Otherwise though, I know that if I was a terrorist, I wouldn't dress in a way that people would suspect me. As said before, it could be anybody.
  • Since they have to walk through the same metal detector and me, I would feel confident that the turban was "shank free".
  • I never fly. However, if a man was on a plane wearing a turban would have the same effect to me as a man wearing a yarmulka or baseball cap on his head. It's not my job to profile, and truth be known, I'll admit my prejudice by saying I'd be a slap more fearful of the guy covered in tattoos and wearing leather arguing with the stewardess that he hasn't been 'overserved.'
  • If I get on a plane, I'm too worried about being high in the air and the plane's engines going out and me dying. Or going to the bathroom. I've had to use the airplane restroom once, and ended up having a panic attack. The last thing on my mind is someone taking the plane down. Mainly because you don't hear about that so much as you do engines going out.
  • My first thought, would be to watch him, then I would think, that the terrorist, weren't wearing turbans, they were trying to fit into society, then I would stop.
  • Yes I do. Whenever this happens, I keep glancing over at them every so often, just to check what they are doing. It's just subconscious.
  • I might look at him because someone wearing a Turban isn't something you see here often in Idaho, but then I'd go back to reading the airplane magazine.
  • Absolutely not. And for the record, I spent a year in Iraq being shot at. No prejudice here.
  • No way, the ones I watch out for are the ones with their pants hanging off of their ass, and dont show any respect to anyone.
  • I would watch him closely just as I would watch a guy who boarded wearing swimming trunks. A hijacker, etc. wouldn't be that obvious but these guys are different enough I would be curious about who they were.
  • I have to be honest and say yes. I would keep my eye on him.
  • Almost any human being would be a LITTLE anxious at this....but that's only because of 9/11/01...otherwise, we wouldn't look at them ANY differently.
  • No, because most people who where turbans are Sikh, not Muslim, and while Sikhs can be surly, they've never crashed planes into buildings.
  • Nah, I'd need a few drinks to get on a plane, then its lights out for me. With the alcohol in me, if the plane goes down...I'll just burn quicker than the rest of you guys. ;) On a serious note, I'm so preoccupied with myself that I wouldn't particularly pay attention to a turban wearer...one of my friends wears one alot, and she's not a "terrorist." So if the turban wearer doesn't mind sitting next to someone who needs a drink and a nap...I'll be there if need be!
  • Yes I do and Im not ashamed to admit it! I would feel more compassion and belief that all muslims arent bad if the "peaceful" ones would pubically denounce the violent ones. I dont hear that much. So until the peaceful ones step up and take a stand for their religion to be practiced the way they say it shoud be-I trust none of them. Also please no one say muslims dont wear turbans Indians do -I know I read the proceeding posts, Im talking about muslim terrorists.
  • Cant say that I would. Even afyer 9/11 I didnt discriminate and was often shocked to find out that they were being judged by the vocal minority. Its kind of expected to recieve or give a second look *after* 9/11, but after its been a few years or so it should be put to rest.
  • YES, LIKE A HAWK, ITS WRONG BUT I NEED TO BE AWARE OF MY SURROUNDINGS AND THE PEOPLE IN THOSE SURRONDINGS. WHAT HAS THIS WORLD COME TO, NOW I FEEL BAD
