Have you ever attended a concert in which the opening act was much better than the main one?

I went to a concert about five or six years back with Cyndi Lauper opening for Cher (Don't ask, mothers day gift) Cyndi Lauper was pretty damn good, thought she was better than Cher.

Yes a few times. One that comes to mind is Kiss and Whitesnake. I heard that Kiss was meant to be the main attraction but for some reason they went on before Whitesnake. I believe more people were there for Kiss than for Whitesnake anyways. Kiss were the much better show. Another example would be House of Pain and Cyprus Hill. I thought House of Pain put on a better show than Cyprus Hill, but that is just my opinion.

I went to Rockfest and the headliner was Stone Temple Pilots. Now, not that I mind STP, but for an OS headbanger like myself, Slayer opening for them is... just wrong. I definitely would have preferred to see Slayer take top billing.

I went to a concert with Oasis as the headliner, but Jet opened for them.

I went to a Static X show once with a band called Ill Nino opening for them. Both Static X and Ill Nino aren't too widely known, but I swear there were more people there for Ill Nino then for Static X. And I have to admit, Ill Nino was really freakin good.

Yep, in July, 2004 we saw the Motels open for the Go Gos and we both preferred the Motels. :)

yes when i went to see korn and Static-x opened the show, they are way better than korn imo.

Rilo Kiley has opened for Coldplay. Any time the indie acts are following up with the mainstream, a shift in talent is bound to take place. I like Coldplay just fine, but it is the first thing that came to mind as Rilo Kiley is a favorite. I love when the indie bands finally hit it big, though it always sad when bands lose their roots.

A few times: Def Leppard was way better than Billy Squire, I think it was 1983. In 2000, Queensryche was better than Iron Maiden that night. Mostly because Geoff Tate's vocals were far superior to Bruce Dickenson's. In 2007, I thought Lacuna Coil was better than Stone Sour. I might be one of the few who thought that. In 2007, I liked Tec9ine better than the Kottonmouth Kings.

It definitely has happened the last one was a few years ago, Los Pepes - opening and Shakira the main one. By then I did not speak Spanish so I did not understand a word but the music was for Los Pepes. Regards.
