How long does it take usually/estimate for a person to receive housing when applying to section 8 and getting on the list?

Call DHS. Depends on the length of the list.Time frame for application ect. Each city will be different.

that will depend. In some smaller cities maybe 2-3 months.. in some places in CA, it's 20-25 years.. Some cities have had the list closed for several years and are not even taking applications.. They have priority list that will always get them first: disabled females, single female parents, homeless, ILLEGAL immigrants (before anyone else), domestic abuse, elderly and then disabled men, etc.. If you are not in one of those categories, you are pretty much screwed.. You can always check with complexes that are low income. GL
