  • Tetanus was probably the worst for me just because my arm always seems to get sore after. Getting blood drawn when the tech misses the vein once or twice wasn't too fun either
  • I stepped on a rusty nail when I was 9. I had to get a tetanus shot inside the hole where the nail was. The doctor had to pull the board off my foot to remove the nail, clean the hole and then administer the shot.
  • Well, it wasn't exactly from "my doctor". It was a plague combo vaccination from a medic in basic training shortly after induction. It was given with a "gun" rather than a syringe. It was one of many other "shots" I and several hundred other inductees received within a few minutes as we walked by. (smile)
  • I know this question is in the vaccinations category but I have to say the most painful shot I ever got was the epidural I got when I had my baby. The person put it in the wrong place and I was feeling it for two weeks in the form of a spinal headache.
  • I used to get cortisone shots that were pretty painful.
  • i had a needle stuck straight into my tummy to remove fluid after my appendix popped. grr to local anesthesia.....doesn't seem to work so well!
  • When he shot me his bill.
  • Two... Had an epidural for a foot surgery once... Damn thing felt like it was going all the way THROUGH my spine. More recently, got a shot in my back muscle for a spasm. First there was the needle in the muscle, then was the burn of the medication! BUT, even worst, is getting a PICC line put in for IV antibiotics... They use a SCALPEL to cut into the vein (numbed a BIT with lidacaine, but DAMN!) about mid-upper arm (for me), and slide a line that was supposed to go to JUST above my heart, so the antibiotics would spread all over. Leaves a port outside your arm to hook up the ABs. That REALLY hurts... But that's almost a surgical procedure - same washdown of area, same scalpel, and masks... :-P
  • The mouth doctor. An injection into an absessed tooth. I nearly passed out. If you ever think you've got an absess run down to the dentist as soon as possible !!
  • I would tell you, but he said he'd kill me if I said anything.
  • I had a nurse in training broke a needle in my arm after missing my vein 3 times while trying to take blood when I was 12.
  • Cortisone. Leg hurts for two days...
  • The new gardacil vaccine, sadly.
  • Colera vaccination. I needed a series of 3 and they hurt for weeks.
  • It seems like I got a shot in the mouth for some kind of oral surgery from my dentist one time when I was a kid. I remember the pain, but I don't remember what it was for.
  • you mean the series of shot I got in basic training for the Navy??? I got every one but the pennicillin cause I am allergic... so instead I had to take pills for 30 days... yuck
  • gravol.. in my bum.. i had the stomache flu was in and out of the hospital all day on iv fluids cause i was loosing more then i could take in and they were doing a bunch of blood tests so they poke so many holes in me only spot left was my bum and i am pretty sure thats where the injection goes it was a painful experience
  • Tetanus shot after I cut my finger. Coincidentally, the very next day I bumped into my Uncle Derwood...of course, he didn't know anything about the shot...and for the first and only time ever, he gave me one of those playful punches in the arm right where the shot was! I nearly doubled over! And the look on his face was like, "What's wrong with this kid?"
  • This wasn't a vaccination, but the most painful shot I ever received was an injection of local anesthetic in my neck. I needed to have a central venous catheter placed in the internal jugular vein, and they numbed the area with lidocaine before the procedure. Well, it felt like the guy doing the procedure had jammed the needle straight through my neck. Ouch!
  • A couple years ago, I got that HPV vaccine & it was painful!
  • The one for TB was really sore. I got the HPV one a few weeks ago, oh my god. My arm hurt for days after it.
  • My TB shot. The doctor waited till i was busy talking to my step-mom and he practically stabbed the thing in my arm. I screamed like all hell had broken loose.
  • I was exposed to Polio, before the Salk vaccine was invented, and the result was two Gamma Globulin shots to boost my immune system. The name of it was so strange, it scared me half to death before I even went in to the doctors office. The shots felt like mule kicks in the behind, and a searing pain as the liquid went in.
  • I remember getting a tetanus shot when I was a kid that made my arm swell up and I couldn't move it without excruciating pain for days afterwards.
  • I half ripped off one of my big toe nails once and had to have an injection right down into the bed of my nail to numb it whilst they removed it. That hurt a bit.
  • I had a horse crush my toe, ripping off the nail. The doctor had to give me a shot right there in the nail bed and he had to do it several times because the shot just wasn't working and he had to sew it up right through the area.
  • The one you get right before a deployment in the military. It's a whole bunch all at once and leaves a scar.
  • My HPV vaccination is PAINFUL. Im good with needles, but i feel the sting of that hours after i get it.
  • All of them.
  • I opened up the skin in front of the shin and got a series of pain shots in the opening to prep for stitches, like 22 shots in an open wound,I'll never forget that pain,,,ever.
  • The 24(yes,I counted each and every one)I got when I ripped open my shin on the job,not only did they hurt beyond belief,I then(4 days later)re-split the stitches and had to go through it all over again.
