  • From what I can remember Stephen Fry saying on QI (a UK TV show), it is a myth that they bury their heads in the sand. What they are doing is scanning the horizon, and they put their heads right down on the ground, but not in it.
  • It's a myth, ostriches do not stick their head in the ground for any reason. The closest they come is when they sleep they rest their head and neck on the ground.
