In some large cities, a typical shopping center branch that does heavy commercial lending might manage over $1 billion, where a small neighborhood bank with a lot of residential customers could have as little as $200 million. With the economy is such a state of flux, with the recessionary outlook, anything under $1 Billion is not looked at favorably in terms of profitability.
