  • Is your work leaving the country because of NAFTA, or is it going to Mexico still owned by a US company instead of going to China with a Chinese company because of NAFTA? Are there any new jobs selling cheap goods imported from NAFTA countries, or selling US high-tech goods to Mexico because NAFTA makes them cheaper there? Not saying you are wrong, but economists suggest that, in the big picture, there are more winners than losers from NAFTA. Which, of course, is no consolation if you are a loser. And the winners think it is their own skills that have won them success (which is not false - no trade agreement can give jobs to the incompetent). So, on the small scale, you have my sympathy. I lost my job last November, so I know how it hurts. But on the larger scale, I wouldn't attack NAFTA: I think it does more good than bad.
  • 1. What is NAFTA? 2. Losing a job isn't a problem. Not being able to figure out how to survive, other than hoping that someone else will 'give us a job' is a problem. (I also have that problem. If you discover any hints on how to solve it, I'd like to hear - ;)) 3. When the country runs out of rich customers, the companies will have to sell to poor customers - at a price they can afford. One company's worker is another company's customer. 4. Money makes one or two people rich. Production makes everyone rich. Production matters. 5. Try to arrange things so you leave when you are ready, not when the company is ready. That'll do for starters. Sorry I don't know anything better to say. Good luck for the future (again, sorry I don't know of anything more helpful to say.) By the way, what was your job?
  • I say it is TIME to get rid of the North American Free trade Agreement it only made the politician's and bankers richer and us working class poorer and with no jobs. I wish you all the best.
  • I'm fine with it, I'm in Mexico. Why don't you move to Mexico, if that's where the jobs are?
  • Viva la Mexico? Is it possible to relocate with the company? Your US dollar goes a long damn way in Mexico. Maybe if we can get them good jobs over there, they won't come over here and suck up government funding meant for Americans. I mean, come on! I'm married to a Mexican, but I'm not blind! I'm sick of that particular sector sucking us dry. +5
