Depends on how young they are. If they are an adult but 20 yrs younger no big deal. But its weird when little kids do it. Still it isnt something that actually bothers me.
-
Sure beats what some people call me, LOL. Just kidding, sure I like it. .
-
I prefer they call me by my name.
-
Yes it is fine by me. Better than them calling me Miss or Ma'am
-
Yeah, that's fine by me...after all it is my name.
-
Yes, I tell them to call me by my first name. I teach JA to second and third graders. The teachers always introduce me as MR. First thing I say is don't call me Mr.
-
Doesn't bother me...besides, I'm not THAT old! :)
-
what else would they call me?
-
It's my name isn't it? I would rather them call me by my name than call me santa
-
It really doesn't bother me.
-
I would hope they would call me by my name, it is better than the other things they could call me, LOL.
-
As opposed to "Oi! You!"?
-
I wouldn't answer to anything else :o)
-
sure! ma'am makes me feel old :)
-
No, so I guess I'm old school. I prefer they call me Miss Terri or GranTerri which is what the neighborhood kids call me.
-
Yes it is helpful when they are trying to get my attention.
-
Yes. I quite like my name and usually answer to it. Sometimes I answer to my kids' names possessive + mom. But if you know my name, use it by all means. It's the best way to get my attention.
-
i'd rather them call me by my name than "hey lady"
-
No. I think they should call me "Sir" at a minimum. Preferably though, they should call me "Your Highness".
-
What I despise more is being called Mr. At least call me MR. Jeff
-
Yes. Calling me Mrs. ______ is just tooo tooo deadly serious.
-
What else are they going to call me? Actually, people older than me tend not to call me by my name. I get 'love' or 'dear' or 'honey'. I'm not saying I mind...I'm just saying, I suppose.
-
yeah sounds good 2 me i wouldnt want to be called sir or mr that would make me feel well old!!!!!!!!!
-
it's fine, personally i do not think it is disrespectful to call your parents or peers by their name.. Think about it - you are in a store, and you say mom, how many mother's turn around, but if you say sandy.. how many sandy's are in the store?
-
No I appreciate it. I have heard what they call some... My name will be just fine. ;)
-
Sure, so long as I'm not in an authority position at the time. I don't really like to be addressed as Ms or Ma'am... makes me feel old. LOL.
-
I don't mind it,but when I was a kid we didn't do that.
-
It's my name, what else would I have one for?
-
i started getting called Miss Miranda at work i felt old. i was going to tell them to call me miranda (because when i was younger and in a daycare i called the adults by their name) but i couldn't because it isn't done where i work i'd much rather have them call me by my name without Miss or Mrs (which unfortunately i've gotten too)
-
what else would i have them call me?
-
I don't mind
-
I've been called a lot worse. Name'll do just fine.
-
as opposed to calling you by what...your smell?
-
I believe that children should learn to show respect to adults. I don't allow anyone under 20 to call me by my first name. I insist that they place a Mr. in front of my first name. I feel youth don't have or understand boundaries and they see adults as their equals which means they are entitled to the same rights privileges which results in little or no respect.
-
Sure if you're 35 then you have to call me Mister. LOL
-
Better than some of the other names they might call me.
-
Yeah, I'm only 23 I'm not ready for "ma'am" yet!
-
As long as they don't call me "Ma'am"!
-
Yes, the whole Mrs. thing is just odd.
-
No problem with that. respect comes in other ways.
-
Um yes. Though some of the kids I am paid to watch are taught to call me "Miss Rosie" So that doesnt bug me too much. But yeah. Just call me Roselynn or Rosie. Whatever. ~+~
-
Yeah. It would make me feel younger :)
-
What else would they call you by?
-
I prefer that younger people call me Ed.
-
Nope
-
it's better than saying "hey...old bitch"
-
No. I will rather view it as an offense. But fortunately in our Country (India) this culture is not yet spread. Even our people who live abroad change to our culture of calling elders by relationship words like "Uncle" or simply "Sir" when they come to India.
-
I don't demand respect, thay can call me anything they want. But if it be something ignorant, i will call them something ignorant. Eye for an eye--
-
well duh, i dont want them to call me someone elses name...or mame, then id feel old...im only 14!!
-
It's fine by me. I usually get on better with people younger than I am, anyways. I am not mature for my age. No one believes that I am 30.
-
No, I rather them call me by your name.
-
I want them to call me king instead. hehehe
-
Oh, yes. I much prefer being called by my name than "hey, you old b*tch"...
-
yes all my teenagers friends call me by my first name.
-
I prefer to be called by my given name. I am a not Mrs. or ma'am type of person.
-
Other than "Hey You?" Yes. I generally prefer my first name regardless of the age of others.
-
Yeah. In fact either way works. Doesn't really bother me.
-
I much prefer "hey you"
-
Ahh yeah that's what it's for after all.
-
Depends if they are respectful as to if I like being called by my first name. I don't expect ma'am or anything, though.
-
i am young so most people are older than me but no i dont mind if they call me by my first name
-
Well , It's okie.. Until I get the respect I'm supposed too.. :)
-
Uh ... yes. Why would I not? It is, after all, my name. : ))
-
I dont mind anyone calling me by my name, thats what ive got it for! use it but dont abuse it!ha ha!
-
What else are they supposed to call me? Even if I was in my 30's or something, and a teacher, nobody can pronounce my last name here. ><
-
Yeah. I mean it is my name, so yeah.
-
Well, it's better than if they call me by someone else's name.
-
yes, but not when they call me "kid" or "sweety" or something stupid like that, like no...im older than you, i call you "hunny"
-
I'd rather have them call me by my name..than Miss or Maam. That makes me feel old
-
Yes, I'm 28 and if one more kid calls me mam......
-
when you say this i think of my younger nieces, who call me by my first name then to top that off they made a nickname for me...what has the world come to?
-
Calling me by name is OK. Calling "sir" is a different story. I am not in the service and I am not your commanding officer. Do not call me sir. I am silly that way.
-
Don't mind.
-
People don't know me can only use my first or last, people who do know me can only use my nickname.
-
I don't like anyone calling me by my name because I typicaly have forgotten their name... if they call me by my chineese name (hei yu) then I do not have to feel bad about doing the same.
-
It's better'n "old fart" or something similar! ;-)
-
That is a cultural thing. I can not judge people by how they address me.
-
Not at all,it IS my name after all.
-
Down south(Southeastern USA) we have a very good solution to that problem. If a younger person is speaking to an older person they would call them by there first name but with their title. For example at the daycare my wife works at the kids call her Mrs. Courtney. My friends kids call me Mr. Brad. It is a way of being informal but not to familiar.
-
Sure
-
I could care less either way. Sometimes its not what you say but how you say it.
-
As opposed to what lol?
-
I positively insist they do.
-
I don't mind as long as they aren't disrespectful in the process.
-
Why not? It's your name, it's what your known as legally. Disrespectful? How??
-
I don't mind really. +5
-
what else they gunna call you? omfg... tardo
-
Well I don't want them calling me "hey you there".
-
If someone asks me my name whether young or old I give them my first name, so yes.
-
Sure i work at a high school and id rather have the students call me Ken rather than Mr... To me we can be friends as long as they go by the rules im not their parent so i dont demand the same amout of respect as a parent would as far as what name to call me .Plus the Mr makes me feel old lol
-
It's better than some of the alternatives
-
depends on the situation
-
No, I want all people to refer to me as Your Majesty.
-
Since I always call my parents by their name would by cynic of my to dislike
-
It doesn't bother me. In fact, I prefer it.
-
Wierd
-
I would prefer them to. If they didn't it would make me feel old lol.
-
Yeah,I don't mind.Being a mentor is fine,but I say cut the formality.*+++++*:)*
-
Yes. And I like to call them by their name too.
-
I didn't want people calling me Mrs. a couple of years ago but now, I think I do like that better. I teach youth Sunday School and one of the youth called me by my first name alone and I don't know, it just didn't sound right. I think I'd prefer Mrs. -r-k- in a teaching setting anyway.
