  • No. Configure/Configuration refer to the arrangement of parts, or how the parts are arranged, whether right or wrong. If you had a handful of pennies in your hand and dropped it, the pattern they form would be the configuration. The pattern itself is neither right or wrong. If you were assembling a watch and put it together wrong, the layout of the pieces would still be the configuration, despite being wrong.
  • I could not find it anywhere in my dictionary or on the web~ This is what I did find though~There are about 424 books w/the word "misconfiguration" in them. Some in the well known "For Dummies" books.
  • No the word is configure or configuration. Though I am sure it has been used on many occasions.
  • 1) Yes, I can assure you that it is a word. And if it not a word, it it going to be one pretty soon. It belongs to the species technical neologism, so it would be better not to use it at school. But in the real world, we use it all the time. This word is quite useful, because it describes a fact that happens all the times. Possibly you are doing it all the time, without even knowing. Of course, it is not so widespread as configuration. Google finds only 850,000 times misconfiguration, but 126,000,000 times "configuration". 2) Some definitions: misconfiguration bases on misconfigure. "to misconfigure to configure something incorrectly or suboptimally" Source: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/misconfigure Here an alternative: "to bork 1. To misconfigure, especially a computer or other complex device. 2. To break or damage. 3. To snub or disrespect." (at school, you could say "bad configuration") 3) Usage examples: "A leading cause of field problems with network appliances is system misconfiguration." http://www.usenix.org/event/usenix2000/general/full_papers/banga/banga_html/node4.html "Misconfiguration Problems Hacker Definition A major cause of field problems with network appliances, meaning that the system configuration is not perfect." http://www.yourdictionary.com/misconfiguration-problems "screaming tty [Unix] A terminal line which spews an infinite number of random characters at the operating system.
