  • Because whites have not, traditionally, been subject to discrimination, bigotry and violence due to their skin color.
  • Good question.
  • Politicians are seeking their votes.
  • Because when whites form special groups, it's usually at the expense of other people. When blacks form groups, we're usually trying to overcome the obstacles put in place by the racist white people of years past.
  • Wow Great question!!!! Very good point!!! have some points for a great question....I will be reading to see what people say about this!!
  • Seems a little discriminatory don't you think?
  • You've asked a great question. Historically African Americans have been discriminated against and people feel they are entitled to organize groups to combat the discrimination. Caucasians haven't experienced the same. It seems to be whirling out of control now though. There is mirror discrimination occurring. It seems acceptable for a black person to point to the white man for the crimes of the past. It's not acceptable for a white person to complain about it. There seems to be a sense of entitlement that whites are supposed to accept, embrace, and support. I haven't, nor did my parents, nor my grandparents ever own a slave. What occurred in our nations history is just that, history! I am from a blended family. We all respect one another as worthy human beings. Our family is solid, loving, and bonded. If we were to dwell upon the history of the treatment of blacks, Indians, or ANY orientation, we would never survive.
  • Those "black" groups are typically made up of African-Americans, which comprise an ethnicity as well as a part of the black race. "White" is solely a race, not an ethnicity. That's why no one has a problem with groups for descendants of individual European nations or ethnicities.
  • There are, to this very days, all-white social clubs where black membership is not allowed. Should we consider them racists? When blacks are excluded from joining those social clubs or special groups, then blacks--like any other groups--would come together and form one of their own. Traditionally, it has been whites who conceived a warpped idealogy of "supremacy", and this idealogy gave birth to recism. Blacks have been victimes of racism in all its forms; yet, you'll be suprised to find out that most blacks are not racist. And even if we were, we have never been in any powerful position to implement it. It has been whites who have held position of power and thus racism was institutionalized. The KKK does not allow black members; of course no black would join if they could. When you are forced to live under a Jim Crow law you virtually have no choice but to creat your own [thing]. If we wouldn't have had the racism which had pervaded every corner of american society and every american institution, then probably we wouldn't have had to form any "special groups"; or if we had, it probably would had been intergrated, or all-white "special groups" would not be looked upo as racist. But this is the legacy of racism, and blacks didn't creat it.
  • This question comes in many different forms and wording but it's all the same thing: Why are Black people able to do this, and White people aren't? For one, I'm not understanding why White people are the sole race that's wondering why they can't "do" something- and moreover why Blacks seem to be the only other race that's able to "do" it. There's no two ways around history, and I'm sure everyone here has heard the lesson before- we do, afterall, have the whole month of February to recall it (thank God for leap years, huh?)- and I'd rather not go into it because it's obviously a waste of time, as the question keeps finding a way to arise time and time again. I will, however say that I find no problem with ANYone wanting to start a "group" that targets a certain kind of people and/or person- what's church without it? I think people should lighten up and stop seeing the world as completely Black and White. There are so many other things to worry about (for an extensive list, please email me. Lol.)
  • Let's hear it for the United Caucasian College Fund and the NAAWP!!
  • Great question. To me it's still discrimination, no matter who is o the receiving end, black white, yellow, red, blue or green. Discrimination is discrimination.
  • I can only imagine the reason we have so many organizations for the advancement of minorities is that as an ethnicity white people have always been given the capacity to live to the highest standards possible; While it's undeniable that even 40 years ago being a minority meant that certain white-guaranteed privileges would NOT be open to you. It is a very very VERY recent thing that EVERYONE is given opportunities to succeed, and it's acknowledged by whites themselves (myself included) that being a white has definite advantages in society, and we don't need to brag.
  • Life's a b**ch isn't it?
  • Maybe they're smart enough to know how to spell the word- "considered"
  • because its all part of the Politically Correct band wagon... and I am amazed at some of the other answers when in them it is claimed that whites never suffer discrimination ...what a load of bullshit that is ... go and ASK the Irish or the English if they didn't get discriminated against in the U.S. ...seems to be a bit of reverse discrimination going on
  • Far left liberal white quilt.
  • you are mixing "cultural" groups and "racial" groups......blacks encompass many african origins, and i am sure a few things i dont know.its culture. like "irish americans for green rivers" its culture, not race.
  • We can't? Funny, I have my special whites only group. It's called the country club my family belongs too, and I've never seen anyone who wasn't white there. Anyone.
  • I have lived in Africa(I'm white) and they Africans are some fine people the so called "African Americans" should move to Africa and learn from them but if they did that they wouldn't be able to whine and complain anymore so they won't. A black in this country wouldn't last a week in africa
  • hey, dude, everyone has special groups, and btw, the laundry called, your white sheets are ready to be picked up.
  • Perhaps because white people never had to excuse their actions. To say we want clubs and communities within our color is like stamping on black peoples forehead:Don't forget where you belong. For them it is a necessery act,for us it shouldn't be even an issue. Not for me at least.Specially for I am ashamed in the stead of many white people.
  • Hmm...let me think...could this be racism? *gasps* *woman faints*
  • Spicy question. I think the answer is not clear or limited to one thing. Sure, the main cause is known – slavery. However –that was before our time –and so a natural question –why should I pay – be I white, red, yellow, brown or whatever. Reverse discrimination is what at play. Where undere the ruse of one crime, we commit another. Why does this practice survives? Because of political correctness; where people are afraid to speak and be labeled. Some elite’s will fight hard to ensure this remains. Why do it at all? - I fear because it is economically easier to be a victim, and get attention –than to work hard to get the satisfaction of knowing you are same or better than others in character, heart and spirit.
  • Because Blacks, just like any other race, have people who are racists against another race. That's why.
  • Look as a black man im sick and tired of this look blacks need the NAACP and stuff like that to make sure the job gets done for us because it can't be left to chance. A matter of fact who cares if whites have their own special groups have them if you want them so bad. But educate yourself on stuff like the NAACP and their goals in additions to mission before you put all the blame on us. They counteract racism their not their to cause it. (Well that's how it's suppose to work) And if you can make a group do the same things do it but blacks need someone like also ASIANS, MEXICANS, and other minorites to make sure they are heard.
  • Ya missed it completely but that's cool. Because of your rant you will never see my point so no need to reply it's a moot point but thanks for the opinion.
  • The reason whites are not permitted or greatly discouraged from forming their own whites only groups is IMHO for the following reasons: The demonization of whites creates such hostility towards whites that 1.They are denied their consitutionally protected right of freedom of association 2.Whites are brain washed in school, TV etc,to such an extent they have "white guilt" 3. Because of this white guilt, the few organizations promoting the rights and accomplishments of whites are dominated /and or run by worms like David Duke, further damaging the standing of whites.
  • Being a black male it happens for the reasons that Wide Awake said. I think its time for everyone to move on from this because I dont judge people by their ancestors I judge them as they treat me now. The world is changing for the better in terms of racial difference and the longer people hold on these old ways the longer racism will exist
  • Basically, In this country you can do what you want, the problem with whites forming certain groups is that exclusion of blacks or other races became a major problem as Whites for many many years did not consider blacks and other minority races to be equal in any way. In fact, the original version of the constitution of the U.S., stated that Blacks were not even to be considered fully human, but were instead considered property or sub-human. I think the fear that most have, especially in the black community is that whites in exclusive groups have malicious intent, even if any particular group does not. When we see things like Golf courses that don't allow black golfers, and gentlemen's clubs that are the same way, it still carries the stigma of racisim and segregation. In all fairness, whites should be allowed in black groups just as blacks should be allowed in white groups if the desire exists, but the key point with most black groups are simply to try and bring blacks into a societal balance with whites and all the other races that make up this or any other country's society. • everyone can have special groups. It only depends on what kind of group it is. If blacks/whites have groups that are against one another or others, then that is racism. Any other groups should be ok.
  • Every race has a special group. Mainly minorities. I feeel they have them to help them grow and give eachother a fair chance. Most of the races that have these groups were the ones who were here long ago and faced racism (chinese, japanese, blacks, native americans, mexicans). Things that have happened "hundred of years ago" have still left messes for that race to clean up, and most of the minorities havent begun (or are just starting) to scratch the surface. Change takes time, and while that time is passing these groups are trying to speed it up and give their race (and others with it) a fair chance. Whites in America generally didnt have much to fight for or prove since they had it to start with and while many whites now are not racist and trying to hold any raceback. what happened in Americas past has set the other races back quite a bit.
  • Because they are still stuck on the years when they were held down for so long...so they take offense when such clubs exist.
  • It is said that in a school in America, a group of black children set up a lunch time club only for black people, then when some white children did the same at the same school, they were instantly suspended. I believe that there was a point where making sure all races were equal went too far and now it has gone the other way. It's the same with sexism as mainly women demand for gentlemans clubs to be closed down or to let women in when women can have their own clubs.
  • history
  • the purpose of a grop and its actions makes it racist. like lynching for example... decendts dont call themselves AFRICAN AMERICAN bc they want to, it was a name give to us. just like this sorry history we have in the usa. we are called that because of our shattered history we have NO idea which part of africa we are from- gotta get a DNA test or something. that leaves a person empty and thats one reason people make groups to celebrate their heritage. we are the only group who did not immigrate here by choice bring our culture. the little we know has to be celebrated for us to find unity. i feel the purpose of a goup makes it racist. most groups i can think of like the government or positions with power are usually held by a caucasian anyway.
  • Maybe their dumb asses think they're someone special.
  • "blacks" or minorities have groups for support in overcoming being suppressed by the majority. majorities dont have to make up for discrimination. fyi- majorities in this context means the group that has the power. the cause of a group is what makes it racist. there are obviousally many underlying issues the asking has in this question.
  • YEAH!!!!!!! Let's have the white music awards! Just for fun!
  • How about White Entertainment Television....WET(BET)
  • For the same reason that women can't form support groups for testicular cancer and men can.
  • It's not black and white people. It's African-American and European-American. If you have to differentiate by skin color, you may as well get it right. P.S. I agree that it might have something to do with whether someone can spell or not or at least use Firefox so you can add a spell-checker and use it. Yes, I'm being sarcastic.
  • Yeah, I'd like to see them try to form the United White Guy College Fund and see what happens.
  • Don't blame my sisters and brothers because we fought and died for everything we have. We continue to not only forgive but to fight for the white mans army in which we have no business in. Who are the majority of serial killers? Its the white man. Who takes the white sheets off their heads only to replace it with a blue uniform and a shiney badge? Its the white man. Who raped and killed us for over 400 years. Its the white man. Who allows the drugs to come into the communities to be sold and to be retaken to be resold, in the process guaranteeing a felon for every black and hispanic individual? It's the white man. Who is the ones who tried to keep us from reading and writing? It's the white man. Who is feeling more threatened today because of our growth rate in this society? Its the white man.
  • Whites have groups....The Masons....The Shriners.....Republicans.....The KKK (they're not racist...just purist)LOL....etc.....
  • it's called reverse discrimination.
  • political correctness, which is bull shit, it is a free country every one should have the same rights, usually when any groups get together there is some underling reason ,what ever it is, it is theirs so any bodycan have a group gathering, whites ,blacks, ethnic groups and so on
  • Black and asian people are discriminated against because of there own selfishness. If they make a black police association and an asian radio station but make a big fuss when a white person does it then obviously there going to be hated for it, I mean it's hardly rocket science.
  • I do not know the answer to this question but I will be very interesting in reading the responses. Thanks for some food for thought.
  • Political correctness for one.Black people are the most racist people.Black people commit more crimes against whites then the other way around. The media does not like to mention this. But if its a white person agaist a black person its all over the place.
  • Which 'black groups' would you like to join? I have never tried to join a 'black group' so I don't know if they are exclusive.
  • Because blacks have faced alot of things as,learned n schools, that whites have not. The groups blacks form r 4 empowerment and support!
  • I think it's entirely conceivable that whites could have a group that isn't racist. Unfortunately, no one's come up with one yet that isn't primarily focused on keeping other races "in their place" and resisting change to a system that most people feel is already inequitably tilted in favor of whites. The world is put together in a way that has several built in biases in favor of white people. Concerns of the "white community" automatically get onto the public policy agenda -- other groups have to work really hard to even get their concerns considered. One answer to your question that may make you think a bit: Most whites who care about doing the right thing and treating everybody fairly would never in a million years think of joining a "white's only" organization. So one reason those groups don't exist is that white people who care about doing the right thing are already part of coalitions that try to do the right thing for everybody.
  • It's called the double standard. There's perks for both sides here.
  • If the US was mainly black and enslaved white people decades ago until slavery was abolished and then white people started being treated like humans beings like everyone else, you then could have a special group all you want. :P
  • Because these special groups play a role in highlighting issues and history that are normally overlooked. The issues and history of white people are pretty prominent already because we're the majority. And the reason whites can't form a group along the same lines without being considered racist, it's not illegal or anything but I have yet to see one form where most of their members weren't racist.
  • There does seem to be a double standard when it comes to racism, for sure.
  • I guess because whites have not experienced what blacks have....
  • I hate to answer a question with a question, but why does the focus always appear to be on blacks? Wouldn't a better question to pose be, "Why can minorities have special groups and whites can't without being considered racist?"
  • It's a legitimate question, such as having the Miss Black America Pagent, while a Miss White America would make the CNN reporters piss their pants and quiver from the expectation of slamming some "racists". I think things are better than in the past, actually I know they are, but until everyone is treated equal and judged on their own merits rather than race, sex, etc, we are not finished.
  • An interesting question - I will mention it at the next Lions Club meeting.
