  • Most of the time, it seems the only purpose to my life is to serve as a karmic torture victim...
  • At my age sometimes yes sometimes no! When you are old and live alone life doesn't have much meaning...
  • Yes, considering my life has only as much meaning as I assign to it.
  • Yes it sure dose. For if it did not, I would not be here to answer you question.
  • Yes. Very much so. I have potent goals and these give my life meaning and purpose.
  • I am sure that my life have meaning and purpose since a lot of people around me (friends, family, girlfriend) truly loves and cares for me. What that meaning and purpose is - I'm still searching and trying to find it.
  • This is what I've been questioning lately. I'm reminded of the scene in Good Will hunting when they are talking about honorable professions. Well, my profession is a poker dealer. Does that have any honor? The entire reason why I work is to facilitate someone's desire to gamble. Hardly a meaningful existence. So, I'm to the point now where I think no, my life is not meaningful. I serve no purpose. How can I get back on course. I'm not a preacher, nor would I want to be. I have little education beyond high school, so ....? Is this what a midlife crisis is?... realizing that the world has passed you by?.....that you've blown every opportunity that came your way?.....that hard work and discipline are better than cheap and easy? It seems so. When these kinds of thoughts pile up, it's easy to say no, my life has no meaning, and no, it has no purpose. That is my current cell.
  • Yes and yours can too. Jesus is what gives your life meaning and purpose. Billy Graham said once, in a response to someone's letter: "...Only Christ can give true meaning to your life. From what you say, you are living for one thing right now: to have a good time. And for a while that may seem to satisfy; the Bible says we sometimes may 'enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time' (Hebrews 11:25). But don't be deceived. Eventually, you will get bored, or unable to enjoy them—and what then? God put you here for a reason, and life's greatest joy comes from knowing His plan for our lives." You were made for God's love a relationship with Him. You were put here to live for Him and experience the joy of his presence. You were made for God, for His purpose. Everything was made for God's glory. You were planned for God's pleasure. You were formed for God's family. You were created to become like Christ. You were shaped for serving God. You were made for a mission. You were meant to live with Him forever. Life is a Test and a Trust. And life is just preparation for eternity.: 1) YOU WERE MADE FOR GOD'S LOVE AND A RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM "God created you to have a relationship with Him so you could enjoy His love." David Gregory, Dinner With A Perfect Stranger. God made you because of his love and in order to express his love to you. You were created for intimacy with God. "God wants you with him. It's why he made you in the first place." "What He is after is *you*--your laughter, your tears, your dreams, your fears, your heart of hearts. He wants *you*. And he has moved heaven and earth to get you." ~The Sacred Romance, by Brent Curtis and John Eldredge You are desired. You are cherished. You are special. You have worth. You are important. You matter. You are God's creation, his masterpiece. You were worth an excrutiating death. You are sought after and pursued. He delights in you and rejoices over you as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride (see verse). You are his beloved. God has set his heart on you (Job 7:17). Nothing can separate you from God's love: "I'm absolutely convinced that nothing--nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable--absolutely nothing can get between us and God's love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us."~Romans 8:38-39 "The most important truth you will ever discover is that God loves you. He loves you so much that He wants you to spend eternity with Him in heaven."~Billy Graham This is the ultimate demonstration of God's love for you: He died for you. He died a brutal death to have you. He took your place on the cross, paying the penalty of your sins, so you would no longer be separated from him, but would be with him in the intimate relationship you were made for, forever. You can live for eternity in His heavenly kingdom, where "he'll wipe every tear from [your] eyes. Death is gone for good--tears gone, crying gone, pain gone--all the first order of things gone."~Revelation 21:4. "For God loved [you] so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that [if you believe] in him [you] will not perish but [will] have eternal life." John 3:16 God wants you for a close friend. "The Bible says, 'He is a God who is passionate about his relationship with you.' Jesus ends your lonliness: "There is an answer for your loneliness and that is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ." "The most important truth you will ever discover is that God loves you. He loves you so much that He wants you to spend eternity with Him in heaven. Turn to Him today, and by faith ask Christ to come into your life. When we know Christ we are never alone. He is with us, and so are our fellow Christians.."~Billy Graham "You can have a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Jesus Christ can make life joyful, satisfying and glorious to you. ...But you must repent, surrender and commit your heart and life to Christ. Let Him forgive your past sins, and He will take you into His family; He will bring you to the hearth, and you will feel the warmth of the fire. If you are lonely today, I beg you, come to Christ and know the fellowship that He brings. ..."With Christ as your Savior and constant Companion, you, too—although alone—need never be lonely."~The Answer To Loneliness, by Billy Graham 2) YOU WERE PUT HERE TO LIVE FOR HIM AND EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF HIS PRESENCE Someone asked Billy Graham once: "Why did God put us here? I know this seems like a simple question, but sometimes I wonder if my life has any purpose to it, or if I'm just here to have a good time. What do you think?" — M.C. "No, God didn't put us here just to indulge ourselves or have a good time (at least in the way you probably mean it). God put us here for a purpose—and that purpose is to live for Him and experience the joy of His presence every day. "The problem is, God wants to be at the center of our lives--but so do we. We want to run our own lives and be free to do anything we please because we think that must be the path to happiness. But when we live only for ourselves, we find it doesn't bring us happiness after all. In fact, a life of self-indulgence only leads to emptiness. The Bible warns, 'There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death' (Proverbs 14:12). "But God has another way for us—His way! It alone is the way of peace, and it alone will bring us true happiness. Not only that, but His path alone will lead us to heaven. What is that way? It is the way of the cross—Christ's cross. On the cross Christ took away all our sins and selfishness, and now He wants to come into our lives and replace them with His love. "Jesus said, 'I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full' (John 10:10). Turn to Christ today and ask Him to come into your life. Then ask Him to begin changing you from within—and He will, as you yield your life to Him and allow His Word, the Bible, to shape your life every day." 3) YOU WERE MADE FOR GOD, FOR HIS PURPOSE You were made because of God's love and you were made for God, for his purpose. And "your life's purpose fits into a much larger purpose He has designed for eternity." ~Rick Warren. 4) EVERYTHING WAS MADE FOR GOD'S GLORY As Rick Warren describes in his bestselling book, The Purpose Driven Life: Everything was made for His glory. What is God's glory? "God's glory is who God is. It is the essence of his nature, the weight of his importance, the radiance of his splendor, the demonstration of his power, the atmosphere of his presence..the expression of his goodness and all his other qualities." 5) YOU WERE PLANNED FOR GOD'S PLEASURE. "The Lord takes pleasure in His people." Psalm 149:4a (NLT). He delights in you. You bring enjoyment to God. "If you are that important to God, and he considers you valuable enough to keep with him for eternity, what greater significance could you have? You are a child of God [if you have turned to Christ], and you bring pleasure to God like nothing else he has ever created. The Bible says, 'Because of his love God had already decided that through Jesus Christ he would make us his children--this was his pleasure and purpose."~Rick Warren. Part of your purpose is bringing enjoyment to God and living for his pleasure. 6) LIFE IS A TEST AND A TRUST (see The Purpose Driven Life) Life is a test; God continually tests--and developes --your character, faith, obedience, love, integrity, and loyalty. All of life is a test. Everything--even the smallest incident--has significance for your character development. Every second is a growth opportunity to deepen your character, to demonstrate love, or to depend on God. All tests have eternal implications. Life is a trust: Your time on earth and your energy, intelligence, opportunities, relationships, and resources are all gifts from God that he has entrusted to your care and management. At the end of your life you are rewarded according to how well you handled what God entrusted you. Everything you do has eternal implications. 7) YOU WERE FORMED FOR GOD'S FAMILY, 8) YOU WERE CREATED TO BECOME LIKE CHRIST, 9) YOU WERE SHAPED FOR SERVING GOD AND 10) YOU WERE MADE FOR A MISSION. (Read The Purpose Driven Life for more on that...) 11) YOU WERE MEANT TO BE WITH HIM FOREVER "In Eden, we see God's ideal relationship with us: Adam and Eve enjoyed intimate friendship with God. There were no rituals, ceremonies, or religion--just a simple loving relationship between God and the people he created. Unhindered by guilt or fear, Adam and Eve delighted in God, and he delighted in them. "You were made to live in God's continual presence, but after the fall that ideal relationship was lost. "...Then Jesus changed the situation. When he paid for our sins on the cross, the veil in the temple that symbolized our separation from God was split from top to bottom, indicating that direct access to God was once again available. ...We can now approach God at anytime. The Bible says, 'Now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God--all because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done for us in making us friends of God." You were meant to be with Him forever. "[God] wants you to spend all eternity with him in heaven."~Billy Graham. When you receive Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, you can look forward to your everlasting home in Heaven with Jesus, where "he'll wipe every tear from [your] eyes. Death is gone for good - tears gone, crying gone, pain gone - all the first order of things gone."~Revelation 21:4 You will live forever with God in paradise. JESUS IS THE ANSWER Jesus is what will fill your emptiness. Jesus is what will give your life meaning and purpose. Jesus is what will be the source of fulfilling, unending love. Jesus is what will be the source of contentment in whatever circumstances. Jesus is who will end your loneliness. Jesus is where you find abounding comfort during pain. Jesus is the way to true happiness, peace, and joy. Jesus is what will give you hope and everlasting life in a place where all pain and suffering is gone--and abundant life here on earth. (See http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=dcp466nb_23fnncfncr&hl=en for more on that...) "I have come so that you might have life and have it to the full."~Jesus "Don't turn your back on His love, but by a simple prayer of faith commit your life to Christ today." ~Billy Graham For the steps to peace with God (and a relationship with him), go here: http://www.billygraham.org/SH_StepsToPeace.asp
