I'm a naughty page folder. I just dog-ear that corner and to hell with a bookmark or bookmark like device.

I always use a 3x5 notecard so I can write things down if I want to remember them.

I have used just about anything thin enough to fit. My most frequently used substitutes are toilet paper, beer mats and business cards. Also I find the reply cards that you get in magazines to be quite useful!

All my bookmarks are long narrow peices of paper. Torn off the nearest paper product around me at the time.Paper cup ,burrito wrapper,sometime's even plastic i never end a book with the marker i started it with.

Amongst other things: bus ticket train ticket old photograph a ripped piece of newspaper a playing card another book a postcard I hardly ever use "proper" bookmarks. On a similar subject... I was watching a tv programme the other day and there was a priest on it showing us around his house. In a picture frame was a flat squashed mouse which he found under a box - for years, he said, he used it as a bookmark. But people found it rather odd. So he framed it instead. :)

I've never really needed a bookmark, I can always pick up my place within a few seconds of opening the book.

Any piece of paper will do. If I study a book thoroughly, I prepare many long paper slips for notes and references. I stopped the habit of writing into books, folding pages, etc. I hate it when people break the backs of paperbacks.

I can normally find my page without a bookmark, don't know why, but within 2 seconds I can find almost any point in a book that I want too. On the rare occasion that I use a bookmark it'll be whatevers on hand. A slip of paper normally.

i use junk mail or if it an important letter i will put in a important book ,because forsure. i will no were to find it. Junk mail average book,good book important bill,page turner a envelope with money .Envelopes of all sorts are good book markers.

I know it's bad for the spine but I am guilty of setting the book down (pages down) opened to the page I last read. Unless it's a library book, and then I try and use a receipt from the library, or some other form of paper.
