ANSWERS: 5
  • 5(5x-5)(5x+5)
  • Actually, this is the factor in full factorization. 5(x-1)(x+1)
  • Common factor of 5, which you take out: 5(x^2 - 1) Now need factors of x^2-1 When is x^2 -1 zero? Answer: when x^2 = 1 When x = +1 or -1 x-1=0 or x+1 = 0 So factors are x-1 and x+1 5(x-1)(x+1)
  • I'd first have to know what the ^ symbol means. That wasn't used in any math class I remember.
  • 5-18-2017 A big part of math is pattern recognition. A lot of homework is just fighting with stuff so you will remember the pattern when you see it again. The most common pattern is (x + a) * (x + b) = x^2 + (a + b)x + ab and the special case (x + a) * (x - a) = x^2 - a^2. When you spot the pattern you can just write the answer from memory. Now study this page until it seems obvious: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polynomial_remainder_theorem
