  • I experience that everyday at work. Usually, I just focus on the necessary stuff (for example, the job at hand itself). Just be happy that you're not one of them.
  • Cry. J/K but seriously though...I work as a hotel desk clerk and for some reason after people have been driving for hours on end in hot/cold weather they can be very irritating to deal with. Oh and trust me, nothing is EVER their fault...even if they were putting the key in backwards! Usually I just smile and apologize for THEIR bad day and try to make a joke about it. Sometimes it helps other times it doesn't. Over the years I have gotten rather good at kissing a**.
  • I have worked in the restaurant business and continually encounter rude people that I want to "accidentally" drop the steak knife on (but don't). But seriously, my philosophy is "kill them with kindness". For example, if a table keeps asking where their food is (or whatever), I just stay super nice, and always throw in something like, "thank you for being so patient". After taking it for so long, rude people don't bother me quite as much anymore; I just attribute their attitudes to something that is going on in their lives and don't take it personally.
  • smile. :) the meaner they get the chirpier i get. :D and i dont hang around them for long. just do the basics and get out.
  • When I was working in a deli I was very nice to them no matter how mean they were but as soon as they left you can bet I went in the back and talked about them to my co-workers. When they are my peers it depends on my mood...sometimes (rarly) ill be mean back, other times I just completly ignore them.
  • I put on my emotional Kevlar vest and give as good as I get.
  • I find that people who are mean tend to be not too bright. I'll make some passive-aggressive comment, smile and walk away while they are scratchig their head.
  • It depends on if they are a customer or an employee. I'm the manager so if its a customer I will try to endure it as much as possible but if they cross MY line then I just kick them out. If its an employee I will pull them in the office to talk to them to see whats wrong. BUT if its outside of work I'll just be mean and rude right back.
  • I become very quiet, I observe and listen to discover there weaknesses and exploit them.
  • I used to be so scared of those kinds of people and I almost want to start fights with them. The only way to defend againest people like the is just stand there and put on a blank look until they walk away or until you decide to walk away.
  • I'm trying to remember to see them as they are, that is, through the eyes of G-d, as perfect human beings. I am trying to view their meanness as coming from a place of insecurity or fear, and that makes me better able to respond in a positive fashion and keeps my blood pressure normal.
  • That's why I have Talim. She can be meaner than anyone else I've ever met, and she does a good job of keeping people I don't like out of my way.
  • I have been in them situations before and I just told them if they couldn't treat me with respect then they dont talk to me or come around me, because i will not deal with stupid people, and that i treat people the way i want to be treated.
  • I kill them and eat them.
  • hateful: characterized by malice; "a hateful thing to do"; "in a mean mood" A word of mild turns away anger. Keep it mild and dont provoke anger. Concider what is making them mean. Mean people have more often than not been spoilt in their lives.
  • Bullies will only prey on the weak. Stand up to them. People have tendency to curb that shit around me.
  • Forgive them. Nothing annoys them so much :)

  • Once in a while spite hurts because really mean people go for the soft underbelly where they know they can hurt you. After a while it becomes like water off a ducks back. If you watch them which I do, you can if you feel so inclined return the spite in kind, or embarrass them which is usually what this kind of person finds the hardest to endure, exposure. As it happens I am not that mean or nasty.
  • I am a mean person...why would you all be so mean to me if I'm just being myself (whiny liberal crap: "I'm just being mysseeelf") I'm actually nice, but I'm very male and dominating in my personality...this pisses alot of people off and they get mean...I'm good at verbal attacks so, if they hit once, I hit back with ten times the intensity...Eventually they just think I'm an asshole. Then they generally shut up and do what they need to to keep me off their backs--they do the best possible job, then I'm never mean to them again.
  • Most of the time i'm thinking to myself...what made this person so angry...and mean...and cold hearted...kind of scares me...but then i just try to make the situation not at thick with anger...by just acting cool and calm...sometimes that doesn't work though...because like my dad he would try to pick a fight with me when i was younger...and if i didn't show any anger in return he would get even more angry...there wasnt any winning for me there.
  • well if iam at work i stay nice thats my job the customer is always right. BUT if its outside work..... no jk i still stay nice, two wrongs dont make a right. although if they get disrestpectful then i have to defend myself.
  • Drop down to their level and beat them with experience.
  • If its someone I don't ever see, write it off. If they are customer service, I ream the shit outta them and threaten to talk to their boss, then I talk to their boss. If its someone I work w/I give it right back. for Some reason it works and they seem to respect me cause I wont let them shit all over me. Sad...but true.
  • I deal w/crabby mean people at work everyday. I start out being as upbeat & helpful as I can, but once they cross the line. I tell them to go find someone else to fix their problem & hang up.
  • Perhaps there are no mean or toxic people, only rather toxic perceptions... That said, you might consider wherein existence may lie... Perhaps what we label "existence" - then run off and define ourselves in relation to....in this case in polar opposition by judging that some are mean and some are not...isn't really "existence"... If this is true, then our self-definitions would be based on a lie....a distortion of reality....set up by perhaps a projection of our minds... If you've followed this reasoning, the answer then is rather obvious and happily in your power to disseminate and cause: there can be no mean people, therefore there is nothing with which to deal... If you're still seeing mean people, you might consider examining the lens through which you are doing this "seeing"... -Nash- http://www.emergentthoughts.com/
  • as far as it depends on you, you live at peace with them. Those who anger you, control you. Never give that kind of power to anyone except God
  • I smile and say have a nice day and if they do not leave the store and continue to be mean I call a manager =-) lol
  • My great-grandmother had some sage advice on that one. You kill them with kindness. No matter how hard you want to just be rude, being kind will have a longer lasting effect. They will walk away and wonder why they can't get under your skin and most of the time (not always) feel bad for treating someone so rudely.
  • There was this really mean little troll of a woman at the local DMV. Thankfully, I only need take a new photo every six years or so.
  • I gear up to politely but firmly re-direct their anger or meanness. I am not a verbal punching bag.
  • i dont deal with them, i just leave
  • i try to stay away from them
