  • From what you have stated, it is safe to say that the property deed was transfered from Your Motherinlaw to you, then you to him. The property at this point can't be considered a part of his inheritance since it came from you.
  • In most states there is a look back period of one to three years for property that has been transferred prior to death. If the transfer occurred during that window, the value of the property would be included in your ex mother in laws estate. If not, then it would be part of your estate. But you settled it out with your ex, so , now it would be part of his estate and he can will it to anyone he chooses
