Yeah, stay away. Chances are the food is fine, but I've heard you can get botchilism (sp?) from dented cans - which is why all the dented cans go to the discount grocery store. I guess they don't care if poor people get sick and die! Jeez.

You can dent a can just by squeezing it, how would that contaminate the contents?

I agree with Atillion. As long as the can is still sealed then the contents are fine. The dented cans are discounted just because of their looks, not because something could be wrong with the food inside them. How could the shape of the can affect the quality of the contents?

Absolutely, as long as the can is not pierced. Damaged cans usually don't make it to the store shelves because it is unsellable due to aesthetics.

I personally would still eat the contents in dented cans as long as there aren't any holes in them.
