  • I think drinking just because you can get alcohol poisoning and risk everyone's life on the street.
  • well no ones ever gone into a marijuana crazed rage and killed anyone or beat their children/wife/husband so i say drinkings worse
  • drinking kills ...pot doesn't
  • Drinking is in fact more harmful than smoking pot in the long term. However, neither are healthy. The slight health benefits of both (yes, there are health benefits to both) are far outweighed by the risks. Just my opinion, but I am going through University with the intention of becoming an addictions counselor, so I do know a lot about the subject. Many people will tell you that smoking pot has zero repercussions, but that is completely false. It can, over time, alter the way in which your brain functions physically, it is not good for your lungs (no, it doesn't matter that it's not full of chemicals like cigarettes, weed smoke does leave residue in the lungs that, over time, can cause respiratory problems) and so forth. The effects of alcohol on the body, however, are more quickly noticeable and severe than pot.
  • Drinking, it destroys the mind and erodes the soul. Smoking weed opens the mind.....though getting the munchies all the time can be a pain too lol
  • drinking is far worse
  • Drinking causes psychosis, and leads to many of the social ills. Pot smokers do not cause to anyone, I mean lets face it, when you're stoned, can anyone be bothered
  • Judging from the way you wrote your question, both are not doing any good to you ;)
  • Excessive drinking is far worse, but unfortunately more socially acceptable. It does more damage in the long run.
  • the main thing with alcohol is people that drink tend to hurt other people around them. with weed you can chill with friends. alot of importain places endorse medical marijuana . Even american cancer society .
  • I think drinking is far worse, but let me throw this into the mix: From personal experience I found that I could have a few drinks and not notice it the next day. If I got stoned then I felt lethargic the next day. When we look at the extreme cases, alcohol is much worse. When we look at the casual user, pot can have a subtle effect on your work life.
  • Since drinking is not against the law, I would vote for it, but neither are healthy.
  • Alcohol(used moderately) is a "food" and is metabolized by the body to provide energy; the end products are disposed of by the body. HOWEVER, marijuana is a drug, and the mistake we make is comparing it to alcohol. Molecule for molecule, THC is 10,000 times stronger than alcohol in its ability to produce mild intoxication...THC is removed slowly from the body, and many months are required to recover from its effects(shows up in a drug test alot longer than alcohol)anddddd...if you get caught with beer in your car(unopened)you don't go to jail...get caught with a bag..you do. I have had friends(and relatives)that have experienced this: )
  • well that depends.... which do you like better; your lungs or your liver?
  • Drinking is worse by far. The Median effective dose of alcohol is 33 grams(2 shots of 80 proof vodka), the median lethal dose is 330 grams(20 shots) so the lethal dose of alcohol is 10-20 times the effective dose, roughly the same RATIO as ecstasy and cocaine, of course it's easier to overdose on ecstacy and cocaine than die of alcohol poisonng. There has never been a reported death DIRECTLY related to marijuana.
  • Everything in moderation.
  • Alcohol causes way more problems in society than marijuana. Anyone who has abused both alcohol and pot knows that.
  • Both are bad 4 u!
  • Smoking pot is illegal. That creates many problems for some people. Alcohol causes few problems. Abuse of alcohol by people does. So, do we blame drunk driving on the alcohol or the drunk?
  • alcohol by far
  • Let me ask you a question. Which is worse ... rape or consensual sex? Now, even if marijuana was less dangerous, it is still ILLEGAL!!! DO you get the point yet? Both are dangerous. Both can impair judgment. Both can cause irreversible harm to your body. Both can lead to death. But only ONE is illegal to be used recreationally. Drink only in moderation and you won't have anything to worry about.
  • yes if you combine both together it can make you paranoid.. be careful .. :O)
  • Alcohol way worse.
  • If comparing the 2 just by level of impairment, booze will be worse for you. If you take it to the inebriated totally ripped level, alcohol ultimately will kill you and drunk drivers too many times take out innocent people. Pot will just make the stoner hungry, sleepy and too tired to drive.
  • I've never danced naked on a bar while being high, so I would say drinking is worse.
  • Alcohol kills thousands a year. People get drunk and they think they can drive like pros and then they end up killing somebody or themselves. Plus if you drink excessively you can end up developing a problem causing liver damage, kidney failure and various other health problems. If I'm stoned I'm so worried about driving badly that I think I drive better than when I'm sober.
  • Alcohol deaths: 85,000 Marijuana deaths: 0 Here's the source: http://drugwarfacts.org/cms/?q=node/30 Now am I stating that marijuana use is not dangerous? No, I am not. I'm saying it can be dangerous, but not on the same level as alcohol.
  • I think drinking is worse. I know pot can get bad too. But from what I've seen, alcohol causes more problems. I remember something someone said to me several years ago about a problem in some local bars (the problem being barfighting): 'I can guarantee you those guys were drunk...how many times do high people get into barfights? Booze causes fights. Pot just makes you friendly and mellow.' (high only meaning the pot, not other drugs) I know there's much more to the argument than that lol, but just my angle and 2 cents on it.
  • True alcohol is legal in every state. Doesn't mean it can kill you or other people. Marijuana is a plant. And I know your gonna say poppies and the coca plant are too, but there is no way you can overdose. And plus opiates are still used as generic types of medicine for major painkillers. Why have we taken so long to use weed as medicine. And Sure it can impair brain function, but when your high your not gonna want to get off the couch.
  • Drinking is worse Smoking and driving dosnt kill many ppl drinking and driving apparently does
  • Alcohol is probably more deadly because it's legal and more commonly abused.
  • Definitely drinking. I have a couple gbeers and I am messed up. But i can smoke pot all day and function normally.
  • drinking - ruins society and ruins families. it shouldn't be legal. the risks far outweigh the benefits. pot is bad too, but i think that it's not really something that has the potential to ruin families. and i don't think it's as widespread as alcohol (just an assumption).
  • Drinking.
  • what's worse? doing something that's illegal or doing something that's not illegal? there's my answer. besides, doing drugs is just bad. when i think about people using drugs, i immediately picture them as parents and their poor kids being neglected. i know that not all druggies have kids, but my point is that drugs can take over you and turn you into this horrible person who can't think of anything but your next hit. i know, alcohol can have the same effect, but not to the same extent as drugs.
  • drinking causes way more problems in society too many to list here.pot is for being mellow and creative some of the greatest music ever made is by artists who smoked pot.
