I gabble nonsensically while turning a deeply unattractive shade of beetroot-red and leave as soon as possible :)

Depends on what happened. 1) my mouth clams up 2) I get veeeeery shy 3) Laugh very loud, very long, and very annoyingly 4) Start talking to myself "Way to go BJ". Either way I just embarrass myself more.

Awkward + defensive = me when I am embarrassed. I don't know what to do and get nervous, then I get defensive because I probably shouldn't be as embarrassed as I am. This happens a lot.

When I'm really, truly embarassed, I'm fairly good at playing it off. That is until the blushing kicks in. I get really red, so much that you could probably notice it from a distence of two hundred yards. As you might imagine, this throws off my nonchalant behavior.

My face takes on a most impassive, deadpan expression. It's a deliberate act to convey to the other person that what s/he said is of absolutely no consequence. And I have been complimented for it more than once.
