I live in a valley at about 700 feet above sea level. We get about 15" of rain per year, basically 3 seasons (no snow but the deciduous trees are leafless from January-March), and dry, hot summers. Our flora consists mostly of palm, oak, and imported trees. It's a semi-arid region so there are no major bodies of fresh water nearby. The local mountains have streams that are usually flowing from January-June but are dry the rest of the year. The valley has mountains to the north and south, and hills to the west. The nearest ocean is about 16-17 miles away.
