  • I beleive the ankle is the most painful. Ive seen some people with tattoos on their eyelids though, and i bet that hurts a little more than getting one on your ankle.
  • THIS IS FROM MY EXPERIENCE: I have 4 tattoos, one on each ankle, one on my butt, and a lower back one. The one on my butt is the smallest, and that hurt the most because the one on my back, by time he was done with the outline, my back was numb so i didnt even feel it anymore...and it actually tickled more then it hurt! and some advice, take a couple tylenol about 20 minutes before a tat!

  • I heard getting a tattoo on the ribcage (sides of torso) is very painful as well as along the spine. My thoughts on this is that it hurts the most when you get a tattoo where there is not a lot of flesh and meat. So, my tattoo on the lower back hurt a whole lot more that the tattoo on my leg.
  • I give tattoos. Right now I am doing the biggest one I have on myself and I haven't felt any pain at all. Maybe the occasionally nerve that gets hit, but no pain. It goes from my knee to my crotch and from side to side or halfway around my leg. Pain depends on the setting of the gun (needle should only come out to around 1/16 of an inch) Also the voltage setting on the power supply, that effects the speed and distance of the needle. People handle pain differently, it depends on the person. I personaly don't think they hurt if done right (I have 13 tattoos and I had a couple that were not done right that hurt, and left scaring.) So, when you get a tattoo, don't just go to a shop and get one, check them out and ask questions, if they don't want to answer or hesitant then don't bother with going to them. It's your body, you have to make sure you are comfortable with who you are dealing with. Any more questions, give my a holler.
  • I have talked to a tattoo artist and they said the most painful place is any where over a bone or a place where there is little fat. Some places include ribs, butt, some times top of foot, and really sensitve areas like the inner side of your arm. I have a tattoo on my ribs and my tattoo artist warned me going into it that this was one of the more painful spots. Personally I would do it again and didn't think it was really that bad. It all depends on the person's pain tolerance and how big the tattoo is.
  • I did not find any of mine really painful, but if I had to put mine in order I would say: Most painful The inside of my lip (My wifes name) Across my chest (Tribal design) The back of my head (Tribal design) Middle of my back (An alien) Top of my back (Tribal bat) Upper left arm (Tribal heart) Upper right arm (Tribal Dragon) Upper right arm (Chinese dragon) Upper left arm (Kanji for Rabbit) Upper left arm (Kanji for Tiger) Lower right leg (Custom snake design) Least painful
  • I would have thought the twig and giggle berries would be quite tender?
  • Just don't get a tattoo on your lower back if you plan on getting an epidural if you have kids....I've heard (dont' know for SURE so someone correct me if I'm wrong) that you can't get that if you have one there.
  • Ankle or your head
  • according to tommy lee from motley crue the wrist is very sensitive and painful
  • My Mum used to check our Bathwater with her elbow, now I know why, the elbow is very sensitive when being Tattooed.
  • Really anywhere on a bone hurts. I have one on my lower abdomen, like above my bathing suit line and it didn't hurt at all. My friends have there lower backs and they said it dont hurt either. My one friend has her foot she said that was painful a little. and then theres the friend with the inner arm, he said that one hurt the most out of 3. take chances, you will never know if it hurts till you get one...im goin for my second one in a week :) good luck with youRS!
  • your toes and the small of your back.
  • Between the head and the toes. I am a wimp.
  • Behind your ear, ankle bone, spine, top of your foot, anywhere with lots of nerves and very little skin between the surface and bone. If you're worried about how much it will hurt ask for a trial run without ink to see if you can stand the pain.
  • I was tattooed on my left breast and it hurt only when he would make an upward pass. my nerves were ziinging. my sis got one on her breast bone (speculum) didnt wiggle as much as me but mine was close to the nip and areola.
  • anywhere where there is a lot o4 bone is supposed to hurt. or the foot. i want a cute little one but im scared lol no really i change my mind all the time
  • The ones on my lower back and shoulder blade were the most painful for me.
  • In my expierience,...ribs and the spot near your armpit. Ive heard the whole foot area hurts pretty bad.
  • It all depends on your level of pain tolerance. My most painful spot was on my stomach. The lower back is pretty sensitive too. I think its different for everybody.
  • The top of my foot was the most painful place to have a tattoo. Also, because the skin is so thin on the top of the foot, I had to have the tattoo re-coloured six months later. Double ouch!
  • i only have 3 tattoos... My first tattoo was on my wrist...second...my middle and upper back...and third on the right side of my lower back. My wrist hurt on the outside when it hit the bone. The one on my middle to upper back HURT LIKE A BITCH! (i dont recommend) but mine is huge...and the one on my lower back on the right side didnt really hurt only when it hit my rib cage and when it got to the upper part of my butt it tickled. From what i have heard the foot hurts a lot and still trying to debate on if i want to get one there
  • I HAVE 2 TATTOOS, ONE ON MY FOOT AND ONE ON MY BACK... THEY ARE BOTH VERY SMALL BUT THE ONE ON MY FOOT WAS LIKE THE WORST PAIN EVER... DONT DO IT IF YOU ARE A WIMP
  • different people feel pain differently in each section of the body. typically, any area that has a very small amount of fatty tissue is going to hurt, althought from my personal experience (3/4 body suit) I would say the ribcage sucked horribly, inner elbow (where your arm bends), outside elbow, inner upper arm, and the neck were all pretty crappy..) but dont expect to get a tattoo without pain, most people can handle the pain associated with tattooing, the hardest thing is sitting still for a couple of hours..
  • wrist. people often pass out whilst having their wrist tattooed
  • I just got a tattoo on the top of my foot yesterday. It was the most painful of my four tattoos. It wasn't unbearable, but was pretty painful.
  • I have seven tattoos...two on my upper back one on each leg just above the ankle...and three across the area between my belly button and my privates....the three above my privates hurt the worst....Sooo..there you go! :)
  • My wrist which I have chinese symbols hurt a little but was tolerable. And the one on my foot which is a big flower with a ladybug and leaves hurt more during the healing process. It was excrutiating pain!!!
  • A place with no or little fat, the ribs, i got one on the back of my lower neck/spine it hurt like fuck
  • Your eyeballs.
  • Ankle. Anywhere over a bone for sure.
  • the feet, my ankle didnt hurt... then again everyone has a different pain tollerance level.
  • I have 4 and they all had some pain but not like the one on the inside of my wrist holy shit..I had to keep tellin myself "pain is only temporary!" ugh but the pain is always worth it
  • i'm planning on getting a tattoo on my upper back, on both sides just inside my shoulder blades; anyone here ever got them there? i'd assume it would be more painful than many other places, but not nearly as painful as some others.
  • i have tattoo's on the top my foot, ankle, hip, stomach, rib cage, spine/other parts of my back, shoulder, inside of my arm, and the back of my neck - i'd say the most painful was inside my arm, but it wasn't that bad really - hurts more when i have my eyebrows waxed!! A guy who lives mear me had a huge tattoo on the back of his head - bet that hurt a fair bit!!
  • I think it's on your legs! I hear anything below your heart hurts the most!
  • I would say any place where it crosses a bone, like your collar bone or ankle bone would hurt, I guess a tattoo on your cooch-lip or junk would hurt too.
  • anywhere close to bone - the middle of your chest, ankle bone etc
  • Just a guess:
  • The Bottom of your Foot or Your Finger (Teennndeeerr) Or your Buttox
  • I'm a male and I don't even wanna think about it.
  • on you're ribs, i was talking to a tattooist about it once.
  • Any where there isnt much muscle or fat...i'd have to also add maybe a mans todger?
  • Probably your eyelids, or like the bottom of your foot, or the palm of your hand.
  • in my opinion, ribs/side for sure. i've heard it's near impossible to have a live tattooed from heal to toe on the bottom of your foot though... ergh yuck.
  • That's strange about the wrist, I just got one on my wrist 2 days ago and It didn't hurt at all, I think it all depends on the persons pain tolerance. Today it hurts the most out of the whole experience.
  • underarm, top of foot, ribs, anyplace close to bone or tinder thin skin areas
  • I heard they hurt really bad around your belly button. (Mine is numb from a surgery, so it's actually the only one I didn't feel!) I had an armband done, and it hurt horrible near my armpit. I can't imagine a lot of the one's people have already mentioned! (inner lip, bottom of foot, pee pee, etc)
  • I have several tattoos, and for me, the part near my armpit was pretty bad, followed in order by near my nipple and on my side, over my ribs.
  • I got one right where the pubic area and the lower belly meet and it hurt quite a bit.
  • The most painful tattoo I just recently got done. I put eh band name Atreyu on the front of my neck and it was just more of a chokcing feeling but going against the adam's apple hurt like hell. All my other tattoos felt soothing but then again I am a sucker for pain
  • for me, it was the sides of my neck...i almost didn't make it through to the end~!
  • We'll I've got tons of tat's and they really werent that painful.. I have been inked on the top of my foot(which its a pretty good size tat), lower back, middle of back between shoulders, near collar bone, and Iam working on a half sleeve. Iam just hoping the inner arm isnt to bad. Iam having that done tomorrow to finish my half sleeve.. They all have some pain, but as they say beauty is pain. Plus its all very well worth it when you walk away with a damn good piece of art!!!
  • well none hurt that bad but anywhere your flesh is soft is where you will feel the most pain
  • I think it all varies from person to person. I've seen a lot of people say here that their lower leg didn't hurt. Well I have a tat on each calf, the most recent one was done a week ago, and those were the most painful for me, especially when the needle was on my shin or the back of my calf. I have 10 tats total: ankle, both calves, both arms, upper chest (right above my breast), shoulder blade, and back of my neck. The neck actually felt good, the calves HURT, and the rest didn't hurt much at all.
  • I kept hearing the top of the foot was one of the most painful places...But I got one anyway a few weeks ago. It really wasnt that bad...mine is located on the outer edge on my foot by my pinky toe...
  • i love my lip tattoo... (commented on the lip being the most painful)
  • my foot hurt really bad its from my big toe to my little toe and it didnt hurt near the toes but tit hurt when it got up on the top of my foot
  • i believe it is ur lower stomach near ur hip bone!!!!! i have 3 one on my lower back, one on my shoulder and one on my stomach near my left hip talk bout sensitive!!! im goin 2 get one on my foot in june wish me luck!
  • i have one on the top of my foot covering up to my toes to the top of my shin and have gotten it worked on five times now. each time it hurts worse and it is definately the most painful of all of the ones i have. the skin is so thin that the healing process is really gnarly and it is hard not to move your foot when they hit the extra sensitive spots. but it was and is totally worth it.
  • Well, personally i have 2 tattoos. one on my shoulder blade. one on my hip. the hip one hurt ALOT more. but i guess i need to get more tats to see whats the most painful. would one on the breast area hurt very bad?
  • Ive only got the one and its in the small of my back OMG! IT HURT!
  • I have a tiger tattoo on my shoulder blade, it did not really hurt that bad, but the tail of the tiger goes out to the fatty part of my arm and that part of it hurt like hell.
  • Nut sac ;)
  • I just got my entire (Inner and outer) forearm done, and it was the most excruciating experience of my life. But then again, I have an extremely low pain tolerance, no fat on my wrists, and it was a very big and colorful piece (Illidan Stormrage from world of warcraft) Along with that, I to say anywhere where you dont have much fat, like wrists, hands, neck, etc. For me personally, it was the forearm. Also it depends on the piece, how big it is, the shading, color, and how long it takes. I guess what it comes down to you is your pain tolerance. I've probably drifted off your question, so sorry. The most sensitive over all, are mentioned above. Have fun :)
  • On an unwanted rash.
  • Id say the lower back but then iv had tats on my arms and shoulders and wrist they were fine, wouldnt say painful, just uncomfortable.I guess there are painful places to get a tattoo i heard the palms of your hands are
  • Private parts
  • At the neck..Hmmm..I had no idea..^_^
  • I have tattoos everywhere. The least painfull my my boob, most painfull underarm and armpit by far. second most painfull top of the foot and third most painful my belly (below belly button). If someone tells you bony surfaces hurt more its a lie, I have my entire elbow done and I barley felt it...pinch your elbow skin as hard as you possible can right now....see it doesn hurt! IT hurts more where the skin is looser as compared to a bony area like your spine. If your going to get a tattoo bottom line if its going to freakin hurt but its a right of passage and if you can stand it then you deserve to have it! cheers!
  • Your balls.
  • the neck has got to be horrible! I think they look cool on guys but dont understand how they can go thru with it.
  • i only have two but the one i got yesterday on the top of my foot hurt like a motha! actually the outline was the worst part. but as anyone have to go back in to get their tattoo on top of foot recolored?
  • well I have quite a bit of tat work done and in speaking with tat artist, those that have them and from my own personal experience, the less meat the more pain, the more ticklish the area the more uncomfortable. The sternum, underarm seem to be two of the most painful areas excluding the genitalia and face, which are not as common place. Some say the wrist/hand and feet hurt a lot but mine didnt and the hands and feet are used to a lot more abuse though than your inner arm or inner thigh etc. As far as pain goes I have some big pieces and never felt more than a little discomfort, a burning sensation that went numb after about the first 30 minutes. I guess it depends on how well you deal with pain and how sensitive you are to it, for me the worst part of a tattoo is just sitting there so long without moving and the annoying sound of the tattoo gun.
  • The side of the neck. Its the only place I almost didn't make it through.
  • anywhere where it is skin is next to the bone or scar tissue foot, hand, ankel, head, ect
  • My most painful one was my lower back. I hear the foot and the under side of the arm is really bad.
  • lower back
  • Side of the neck, and if your really insane....well you get the picture..
  • Ribs, and Sternum.
  • Palms of your hands, bottoms of your feet, your throat, your ribs(mine didnt really hurt that bad, but my gf said hers killed) and anywhere that doesnt have much fat or muscle between the bone. like your ankle or shin or finers. I guess on guys below the belt doesnt hurt to bad, because its just tissue.. the needle isnt right up against your bones. Your ass is actually supposed to hurt a lot too...
  • i only have one tattoo, it takes up the whole top of my right foot, some areas i really couldn't feel much, but when he was going over the top of my instep i couldn't believe i was putting myself through shit like that. In the middle one of his friends even came in and told me it took her 5 years to get her feet finished they were so painful. i want about 20 more so i am hoping to get my chest down soon and out of the way because i usually can stand a lot of pain, but i always pick the least fatty places on my body to get work done. All i can say is talk to the tattoo artist, find a good one, someone who is willing to stop when you need to, push when it's almost done, and make it turn out the way you wanted it. Find someone you click with and things will go ten times easier. Plus it never hurts to eat something to calm you down, drink water, have some candy or gum and just listen to music to zone out through it.
  • the boney areas..be prepared..and bring something to bite down on
  • I got one on the top of my foot and it swelled up for two days...ouch!!
  • i would think on the foot or genitals.
  • i was thinking of getting a phrase tattoo on my ribs and my tattoo artist asked me twice if i really wanted it there. i ended up getting it on my arm and i adore it.
  • Thin skin over bones hurts more than thick, muscled skin. As for most painful, I'd guess eyeball. Yes, it can and has been done.
  • it does hurt, but its well worth it, especially if its something that you really want.
  • i have one on my hip, foot and ribs..the ribs was by far the most painful.
  • Underside of your tongue, any bony place that is thin skinned, or near the "family jewels" I am told. I have no reason to doubt! Lots of good examples already given.
  • Anywhere there is little fat tends to hurt the most!
  • Not trying to be a jerk, but i hope this is just for fun. If One is worried about the pain then they really shouldnt get a tattoo. I believe a tattoo should reflect yourself and if One wants a tattoo should carefully think through what they want and where they want it regardless of pain. If you want a Skull on the inside of your arm, but too scared it will hurt and get it somewhere else that is less painful then is it what you truly want? Personally, (and i am not trying to sound tough) I have not had a tattoo yet that wasnt relaxing and i have had about 10 hours worth of ink so far. Most artists are covered in ink themselves and know what its like under the needle and will do what they can to make the experience as comfortable as possible whether the cleint is a newbie or a pro. sorry for the lengthy reply :)
  • Private Parts
  • i have just had a medium sized lily on the side of my foot retouched ( forgetting the pain) done and made into a beautiful artwork of more vines and another lily added. Didnt plan it just went and trusted my tattoist! he free hand drew and it looks beautiful... No numbing cream, but if you decide to do this have a friend to hold your leg as nerve endings make your whole leg twitch. After having 3 children with no pain relief it was on a par with that and only the end result made it worthwhile! bloody awful, grit your teeth or get your foot numbed... looks beautiful but my god it bloody hurt!
  • On the fleshy parts..under the arms, back of the legs, stomach and apparently the back!!
  • i got a jersey on the shaft of my genital(lol) and a helmet on the head .. looks pretty siq man.. umm yea the one on the head definetly hurt the most out of all mine..
  • i have 6 tats. When i got my tummy done, they put the needle in my bellybutton, and I CAME OFF THE TABLE!!!! Thank God its a small area!
  • Anyplace where the Bone is close to the skin, or possible the inside of the upper arm. Pinch the skin where they tat is going, You can judge pain in the area by how much the pinching hurts.
  • Gutch Penis Japs eye?
