This actually brings up an interesting case. In stats in data collection, Arceus would be more powerful, but in spirits and DNA, that would be Mew. What's more interesting is this. When the first Generation of Pokemon was released, it was said at first that Mew would be the strongest natural Pokemon of all. Of course there was Mewtwo, which was made by the DNA of Mew. What's more confusing is the data called "MISSINGNO#". It's not really a Pokemon, but it was supposed to be one, but it was canceled. It was said to be the God Pokemon of all. It was discarded for the generations to come. Then came the Fourth Generation of Pokemon, along with Diagla, Palkia, Darkari, and many others. It has been accounced that Arceus was supposed to be the greatest Pokemon of all. It's been said that Arceus holds all DNA of all Pokemon, just like Mew. The problem is that it was undeclared whether to put Arceus or Mew to become the top Pokemon. It was decided later that Arceus came out to be the top since it was called a God Pokemon. Many have argued that Arceus should not be a pokemon, because with the relationship with MISSINGNO#, it just relates back to Mew instead. For facts, Mew was born while Arceus was brought up with the MISSINGNO# case. But then again, Arceus can create Pokemon, not Mew, according to a myth. Arceus is not really recorded as itself, but rather to MISSINGNO#. One final thing to cover, is the myth of Arceus. It was said that Arceus was the original one, and not Mew. According the Arceus Myth it describes... "Arceus is Original One, which means Original and True Pokemon. In this text, before Arceus was nothing and chaos like in mythology. Mew cannot create Original Ones." ... So basically, they both have their balances.

First of all, Mew isn't really anything special to begin with, so I don't see why this question even came up. Mew was never the most powerful ANYTHING, no matter what generation you're talking about--Mewtwo was easily stronger in the first-gen, and every generation afterward has added more and more that just make Mew look pathetic. But anyway... Arceus is very obviously more powerful. Both Mew and Arceus have completely balanced stats, but the difference is that each of Arceus's stats is much higher than Mew's. Instead of maxing out at 298 (not counting natures or stat-boosting moves), Arceus can potentially have a 338 in every stat. Also, the mythology about both of them can be pretty much thrown out--Arceus is too weak to be any sort of creator god (the thing's only JUST BARELY stronger than Mewtwo, for crying out loud... what kind of "God" almost gets beaten by a genetically-modified member of a not-particularly-strong species?) and Mew's "DNA of all Pokémon" thing would actually PREVENT it from being the first Pokémon--to have the DNA of Pokémon that wouldn't have existed until humans were around (Grimers/Muks for example), Mew would have to be a fairly recent species, not an ancient one.

I agree with those two.... and even if your argument is still "Mew has the DNA of all Pokemon" even if Mew did, then Mew would have its "powerful" DNA but also that of a crappy Pokemon (i.e. Sableye Grimer Ekans etc). Mew would have some good qualities but a lot of bad too, and from the description of God Pokemon one is lead to believe that Arceus is perfect and flawless.

Well, Mew is one of a group of Pokemon (includes Celebi, Jirachi, and Shaymin) that all have base 100 stats all around. Not too shabby. It should also be noted that Mew can learn absolutely ANY TM/HM out there. Pretty cool. However, Arceus is statistically the BEST Pokemon out there (it has 120 in all base stats). Arceus, even though its Pokedex entry says something about 1000 arms, it cannot learn any TM/HM that would require the use of arms (Fire Punch, for example). Arceus also has Judgement going for it, the base 100 power move that changes type depending on Arceus's type. Along with that, Arceus can become any type you wish, provided you have the appropriate plate (Iron Plate, Spooky Plate, Flame Plate, etc.). So, all in all, Arceus is a god, and Mew is one of the damn cutest things you'll ever run into. Your call.

How about this: Arceus is the Original One, who created all other Pokemon. Arceus then created the Pokemon that were needed to create the Earth and the heavens above, like Dialga, Palkia, Groudon, etc. Finally, Mew was created to watch over the Earth. If you concider Mew the direct descendant of Arceus and the other legendaries to have been simply created for a purpose, that explains why the legendaries don't have the DNA of all other Pokemon, while Mew does. All other Pokemon were born through natural means most likely. That's hole in this theory, but one solution to this could be that Arceus could want a specific Pokemon made, Mew transforms into it, and then mates to create another of that Pokemon. This may or may not be right, but as I said, its a theory. Now, consider what I said earlier: Mew was created to watch over the Earth. Other legendaries could have been made to watch over other parts of the universe. Jirachi has the moon, Deoxys has outer space. This explains the existance of other legendaries. Even the creation Pokemon, like Rayquaza, had a purpose to fullfil. Also, the legendaries could have been made to watch over the other pokemon. For instance: Zapdos watches over the electric types. Then, Mew would have another purpose: watching over all the other legendaries. In terms of power, Arceus wins, but in terms of attack adaptability, it's a toss up. Mew can learn any TM or HM, while Arceus can't, but Arceus can be any type it wants. In my own opinion, Mew is better. But Arceus is extremely strong. Once a LEGAL one is released, I'll be getting one. I don't believe in hacking the game to get unobtainable Pokemon.

I realy don't like to think there is an all might pokémon, like Arceus is said to be. The creators of pokémon always based the history on scientific explanations. Therefore I believe there is no God Pokémon, and Arceus would be a very powerfull one. Just it. I have a theory for Mew and Arceus, based on what is in fact on the games and the movies. Facts: Mew carries the DNA of all pokémons and can transform into any of them even if the pokemon is not present. He is the origin of life on Pokémon. Arceus molded the universe with his arms, as said in Pokémon Diamond/Pearl. He is called the original one and his egg came through a vortex before space and time exist in our dimension. Conclusion (My Theory): There must have been a Mew before any other pokémon was born. Arceus maybe came in second place. Therefore I believe this first Mew was the most powerfull pokémon. But he wasn't a god either. We heard that Arceus was a god, but I believe that it is just a religion that the people of pokemon believed, and just like any other religion it is not based on real facts. On the game we can clearly see that Arceus canot be a god or he would be unbeatable. The Mew from the movies and the game isn't the first Mew I told you about, and, because of it, his power matches with Arceus, Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-oh, etc... Arceus is stronger. Even if Arceus is god pokemon, it can't have superior stats. If it would have something 500 max stat on it's all stats, it would be too strong to be used in battles. And as for Mew, it has the DNA of every pokemon, because Arceus created it to provide more pokemon to the world he created.

Arceus. The only problem is that Arceus might not be a God. Look at some of the other pokemons such Dialga, Palkia, Groudon, Kyogre etc. Dialga, Creator of Time. Palkia, Creator of Space, Groudon, Rules the land (which could lead us to believe that Groudon created land), Kyogre, Rules the Sea (which could lead us to believe that Kyogre created sea). Arceus is more likely a Pokemon that watches over EVERY Pokemon, it just can't simply be the creator of all the Pokemon. Mew's DNA was taken and there came Mewtwo in different form with Mew's DNA. That may have happened with all the rest of the Pokemon but not as powerful. That's just my opinion. I may be wrong. So I say that Arceus, The Watcher and Mew, Pokemon Creator are both evenly powerful.

i would say mew is more powerful, partially because mew is an actual pokemon. But it is as written in the pokemon weekly review that Arceus is was not to even be a pokemon, but a glitch in the game. So technically Arceus is not even a pokemon. Which leaves only mew to be the best, myth or no. But then there comes pokemon like darkrai and giratina, Which are actual pokemon that are better than arceus, and mew to put it that way. so i think its safe to say that they have there ups and downs but mew is better.

Okay, MISSINGNO# has NOTHING to do with arceus, and this is why: MISSINGNO# was a placeholder sprite used for null data in the original pokemon games. Technically, MISSINGNO#, in some form or another, exists in every pokemon series: for example, if you use a cheat to fight wild pokemon before you have a starter. In the Neo generation, Unown was created in an attempt to fill the null data slots of the game, but there simply weren't enough kinds to fill every null slot. Next, Arceus IS a real pokemon, not a glitch. He has a full moveset, high but not unbelievable stats, and even a signature move: Judgment. Nintendo would not have gone through all that trouble for a "glitch" or a non-real pokemon. To set the mythology straight, Arceus is constantly referred to in the games as the "Original One", having been born from chaos, and creating the univerde with his 1,000 arms. its obvious neither. Deoxys is the strongest pokemon there is. it doesn't matter what stats or whatnot, but look at Deoxys, in the movie, his protective bubble-like thing blocks everything. Oh comom guys, you know how pokemon is, there is always a new one every time. For me the ORIGINAL greatest pokemons are the best: mew and mewtwo, and none other. Every movie and every episode have always said they were the best, even the most recent ones. Forget about the game, cuz there every single pokemon can beat a legendary one anytime. And if what was said on the first movie was right, the best pokemon will be great because of his heart (i know it is dumb, but you will see im right soon enough).

I dont know much about Arceus, but i do know that mew can use transform like ditto. And I do know that Arceus can change its type. But I think mew would win because mew could use transform to turn into any pokemon inculding Arceus then change its type to the opposite type that the real Arceus would change into therefore allowing the transformed mew's moves to be super effective against the real Arceus. And I look at it this way: Mew turned into Kyorge then used double team making the real kyorge who created the sea. Then mew turned into Groundon did the same thing with Kyorge. It would all really depend on the given conditions seing how everyone is bringing different viewpoint references. But in the longrun, I would venture to say that Arceus is more powerful. The reason being that Arceus is classified as the alpha pokemon or in other words a god(I am not deriving my response on the basis of simple, taken for granted, universally accepted beliefs, but rather from really familiar and reliable sources, such as serebii.net), requiring it to be extremely powerful, which of course it is with its stats being superior in comparison to any other existing pokemon(namely Mew in this case). Despite this significant advantage, people who find Mew as their favorite still upheld their arguments by bringing up Arceus's lacking abilty to learn the majority of, but not all the available moves. Through this statement, it was implicated that with this asset mew would have an advantage. However, this is not necessarily true as Arceus possesses the same ability, technically, via the "type plates" that would allow it to learn just about any move desired with only the cost of a little inconvenience. Without the intention of being redundant, in essence, it would appear that with all the given evidence that Arceus is clearly more superior, or in more favorable terms, powerful.

Arceus is the god of all pokemon. there is a connection between greek gods and pokemon... if you are into greek myths like i am.. you would know that Cronos became the king of the universe by killing his father, Uranus. when cronos gave birth he swallowed his two sons (Posiedon and Hades) and two daughters (Hera and Demeter) so that none of them would kill him and take his throne like he had with his own father, but his wife Rhea hid the last child god who was Zeus, and gave Cronos a rock in baby cloths to swallow instead. He was fooled, and young Zeus grew up and became strong... when he finally wasb ready to battle Cronos and save his brothers and sisters, he got together his uncles, who were betrayed by Cronos, and battled all the titans. Now, your wondering which pokemon is Hades... its none other than Garatina, the lord of the distortion world and darkness.. the underworld and the mortal world work together becuase it balances the living and the dead and when mortals die their souls are taken away from the earth and sent to the underworld to be ruled by Hades. As you know, the distortion world is much alike becuase it helps balance every other thing. Garatina is also the son of Arceus and brother of Palkia and Dialga. Ok, those where the four main pokemon.. Demeter could be either Celebi or Shaymin... and Hera could be Mew because since she is the goddess of childbirth she is in charge of all the mortals who will be born.. About what Kyogre-Stataen said, I think he is partially right. My theory is Arceus is The God Pokemon, It made Dialga Palkia and Girantina to sustain the uviverse, Mesprit Azelf and Uxie were created supposedly from the same egg, they sealed the three Manipulators, in different dimensions, Dialga and Palkia in the same one, and the more violent Girantina in the Torn World, until they would be needed again. He them created the land, originally a Pangaea-type super continent. Eventually it seperated into the 4 regions, Sinnoh in the north, Hoenn in the south, and Kanto/Johto covering the east and west. Arceus sent three guardians for each region, The Bird the Beasts, The Weather, and the original 6 were left for Sinnoh. Each Trio had a master, Lugia for the Birds, Ho-oh for the Beasts, and Deoxys for the Weather. Arceus then created the first actual wild pokemon, this was Mew. Over time Mews naturally adapted to their enviroment and became the pokemon we now know, Arceus then went into a slumber, leaving behind the Azure Flute in case he would ever need to be awakened again.

If you want to take all the information in tha game as accurate, including all the pokedex entries and myths in all the pokemon games, there seems to be a paradox between who was the original. I have come to understand that if you beleive that Arceus was the original pokemon that created the pokemon universe including all pokemon, then mew cannot be the ancestor of pokemon, because they were all created by Arceus. But if you say that Mew was the original there is really no room for Arceus or any of the other god pokemon. So I think that if Arceus was the original, all species of pokemon were created. But if you beleive that Mew is the ancestor of ALL pokemon, then it is reasonable to say that all species of pokemon evolved from mew. I seriously think that this problem needs to be addressed for pokemon mythology to make consistent sence.

This could have happened before or after the first Mews came into existence. -Pokemon evolve from Mew (with a few exceptions, such as the Regis and other Pokemon created by humans). -Humans could have evolved from Mew, but it's more likely that they evolved separately. look at full power arceus beats mew buy more that 50 points in all stats accept hp witch he still wins arceus can defeat deoxys any for because only 1 stat is ove 500 do to forms the story lines to the 12 movie says he almost kills giratania diaga and palkia in one attack and also as at the end of the movie a arceus begins to die everys thing stats fading away proving he is a god he may not have the highest stats but there all high enough to beat every other pokemon and creating palkia and the 3 lake spirits means the created the the king of the sky rayquaza rules of sea and ground kyogre and groudon all other pokemon with some kind of terrane Diaga and the spirits made celebii and nopokemon evolves with out some training witch takes time. the spirits alone made most of ther pokemon that arent legends and with out arceus they wouldnt be without him making them from SMALL parts of him( thats my theory)

Arceus, of course. His stats are all 120, Mew's are all 100. Arceus has a great list of level up moves, better than Mew's, but their TM lists are both limitless... Arceus can also change types depending on what plate you attach to him. He obviously wins.

so far all i hear is arceus. yes i admit his stats and everything eles is better than mews. i also hear that arceus can be any type he wants, which is true.it is also said that he could beat mew by becoming a ghost type by getting the ghost plate, this is where is butt in. arceus obviously has plates of all types. he could get the ghost type plate to beat mew but he has to find it first. what ever plate he has mew can counter type by using a move that is super effective to it. and i know that arceus is the god pokemon. if he is thought to be so powerful and he created everything when he has to battle why doesnt destroy the pokemon he is battling. it is like the real GOD refered to in the bible as the GREAT I AM. he can do what ever he wants when ever he wants for what ever reason he wants. GOD has whiped out life a countless number of times. with me saying that are should be able to do all that as well being the god pokemon. arceus obviosly has a limit to his power. i favor mew more than arceus. it could be an equal battle between the two seeing as they are superpowerful and nearly impossible to be. and if your thinking well if mew is so powerful then why did she have a hard time beating mewtwo. well the people who invinted pokemon never show that full power of any legendary. and me was most likly playing with mewtwo seeing as mew is playful. and all they really did when they fought was run into each other while in a bubble. if mew went all out mewtwo wouldnt have stood a chance. after all the contradicting of myself i would have to say that mew and arceus are around the same.( and if your are wondering why i put the actual GODs name in all caps is becaus when you talk about him you must capitalize it and lower case all other uses of the word god because GOD said he is the most high god meaning if u use the word god to call another living or powerflu being god is to be lower cased cuz they are no where close to GODs power or divine state. i hope you learned sumthing

My opinion is mew because he created every single Pokemon including arceus.Also mew can transform into any Pokemon.Mew is the ancestor of all Pokemon.But arceus was named the god Pokemon.So i believe that mew is a little bit more powerful than arceus.That's just my opinion.

Mew can learn all TMs and HMs and Arceus can learn all TMs excluding: TM01 TM41 - TM49 TM51 TM54 TM56 TM63 TM64 TM69 TM74 TM78 TM88 TM89 (arceus can use all HMs) mew gets Synchronize now I dunno if that's really that handy in the Uber meta game (I don't play Uber much) Arceus gets Multitype and well Hypothetically makes him one of the best choices no matter who your fighting considering his well balanced stats... though you may need to do a bit of homework on your opponent to determine what type would be best. Max beneficial (I'm not gonna go neutral or hindering) Min-Max (the level is set to 100) Arceus: HP: 350-444 all other stats: 269-372 Mew: HP: 310-404 all other stats: 255-328 Arceus has 120 base in all stats while mew has 100 so unless you find the move pool enough to out weigh 20 stat points and the ability to become your weakness (which again is a matter of opinion some could actually find the move pool more advantages) Than I personally would consider Arceus stronger
